If Wanyama goes that's the full house on deadwood transfer bingo.
I know a lot's been made of our incomings but Janssen, GKN, and Wanyama out the door with fees combined with Vorm and Llorente really opens up the squad for further incomings.
Feels odd having no deadwood to shift. Gone are the days of David Bentley hanging about like a bad smell every transfer window..
Bentley was a strange one, just fell out of love with the game, and saw out his time with us before calling it a day.
Shows the importance of mindset when looking at potential transfers though.
I love that we have basically replaced our deadwood with Clarke, Parrot, and Skipp.
Just feels the whole club is firing again with the academy, identifying good youth prospects, and getting in decent first teamers, whilst trimming the squad all in one Summer.
Still a bit of work to do but at least we've started to close the gap again.
Does it really matter though? Let’s be honest you’re going to a team in the Belgian League. The Champions League has glamour but that’s a step down to a level where you’re basically hoping not to get battered.Yeah if I'm Wanyama theres no way I sign when before the window closes theres a potential knockout game for my prospective new team. Makes perfect sense for him to wait till 2nd leg. And for the club too as it will affect their finances and how they need to set out their squad.
It’s a trend I’ve noticed this season that a lot of English clubs have really struggled to shift on the deadwood. Not sure if it’s wages or what it is.Feels odd having no deadwood to shift. Gone are the days of David Bentley hanging about like a bad smell every transfer window..
