I can put your points in a different context

What if you were teaching Spanish to someone in such a way that they had no chance of learning? For instance, speaking to then in French instead of English to teach them?
Or, more specifically, what if you teach someone Spanish to prepare them for a conversation with a man from China? It's not gonna work is it?

I still genuinely believe with regards to Southampton that
A) They were on the up under Adkins, not exclusively because of Pochettino
B) They weren't nearly as good as everyone hyped them up to be
C) They've settled fecking quickly under a new manager and half a new starting 11 and actually look much better now

So they were good because of the previous boss and now they're better because of the current boss.

I fear for Poch (or any manager we ever have) with fans like you.

From the Independent.

Some say it was tongue in cheek and i would agree, (but only in a different cheek)

Clearly tongue in cheek, so hardly "blowing smoke up his own arse".

I've nothing against Poch, but I do find it funny that he's not getting the same abuse as Sherwood for saying more or less the same things (and picking Bentaleb).

If that was the only instance i'd agree, but the short time he was in charge was filled with constant serve serving drivel.

That's not what he said at all. Poch did a good job at Southampton, but their success wasn't all down to him.

Drop them then.

And you will have the backing of every Spurs supporter in the land.

But he won't.

Yeah, exactly.

We are looking to a mid table team whom we beat twice and finish miles ahead of as the way forward.

And you are right, Southampton were ticking on pretty nicely before Poch came in.

But, he came in and they embarked on a good run immediately - so implementing his way clearly doesn't take long.

Well, base on our last game, he can start by dropping Chiriches and Ade to just name two.

Because the other eight were outstanding i guess?

Aside from Lloris no player played anything worth a shit. To single two players out after that performance is plain stupid.

I wonder if the philosophy he employed at Southampton (and which everyone seems to be raving about and can "see" being introduced) is the same philosophy he employed at Espanyol?

That's called being stubborn.
It's what's making Manchester United a laughing stock, it's what got AVB sacked.
Not after five games it's not. Stubborn would be if he ploughed on regardless after a number of games. I look forward to you writing something genuinely positive about Poch, but I won't be holding my breath. Please spare me some trite shite about you doing so if he deserves it; you'd made up your mind already, because you think he's flash in the pan.

I think we need to stop with the inverted wingers, put the players in their best positions if you want to get the best out of them.

We also need to make sure we always have a player with pace in the team.
Both Lennon and Townsend have their faults but we need to utilise their speed and do it on their best side. For me that is Lennon on the right or Townsend on the left. We don't necessarily need to play both at once but we should always try to play at least one of them.

We also need to start to keep a settled back four, defenders especially need to work as a team within the team so need to build up the working relationship over a run of games.

The best teams also tend to have a consistent spine. So where possible our best players should be consistent down the middle of the park.

The collective level of performance was appalling but I have to disagree in relation to Chiriches. His was one of the most inept individual performances I have ever seen in a Spurs shirt. How he could not have been substituted at half-time with Vertonghen waiting on the bench is beyond me. And I should say that I had an open mind about him before arriving at the Lane on Sunday, not feeling I had seen enough to form a judgement about him as a player. He is going to have to go some to change my view of him now. If he plays against Arsenal I will be seriously worried about Pochettino's judgement.

My assessment of Chiriches is that he needs to be loaned out to a lower, more defensive team. He is yet to come to grips with football in England and what it demands of him.

His playing style is too lackadaisical, he tries to play the ball when the best and simplest option is to clear it, and he often gets too far forward for my liking.

Sending him to a team that is more often than not on the backfoot will either wake him up to the realities of this league or confirm that he simply should not be here.

Either way the farther away he is from this club at this point in time, the happier I'll be.

That's a bit of a pointless reply isn't it then?
If we end up playing quality football and challenging of course I'll have been wrong.
And when it comes to thinking something negative about spurs it's the only time I hope I am wrong in my pessimism.

Or just maybe it takes a while to get a team playing his plan A properly?

And before he ditches it totally he'd like to see us actually play it like Southampton eventually did (and have thrived since learning it)

Southampton played 18 games last season against top half of the table sides, and won a magnificent 3 of them. They also were knocked out of both cups by the brilliant performing Sunderland.

It's like our fans have been hypnotized into believing Pochettino is some kind of omnipresent being.

Gaz, read what I said...just to name the two.
You are right that they all played crap!
Cheers!

No one else is going to say it because there is an absoloute love fest for this guy, but I presume he is talking about Christian Erikssen. Bar 1 game he has been so poor. So have others but he is the playmaker, what sort of playmaker does not create chances.
