We really, really need those two new CBs. That position has been neglected for wayyyy too long and it has cost us big time.

Now's the time to get them both in. We aren't going anywhere next season without a radical improvement in defence.

For us to go on a run in PL to compete for top2 or 4, we need to beat the teams that we should be beating in the pyramid. For that, this fast paced 70% possession style will suit perfectly. This is how we use to play in the final season at lane. If we can replicate this week in week out, we will be winning those 3 points more consistently.
💯 spot on 👏

It has been the biggest problem for the last 3-4 years. Jose knew it, Conte knew it, Ange knows it and the fans know it. Yet somehow we've not addressed it.
Hence why the word “negligence” has been used by many. There’s no excuse to not heavily invest in an area so glaring to all.

Anyone know why scarlett wasn't on the bench? Ange seems to have accounted for everyone except him (unless I missed it)

Lots of people knocking Porro and Reggy but they're both very decent options to have as backup to Royal & Udogie. Yes they have faults but who knows what they could do with a bit of Ange coaching and more familiarity with the system and players around them.

Bissouma looks so much happier in this system, think he will shine this season.

Lots of promise considering it's the first pre-season game, our attacking patterns and movement looked very good considering how early on we are in Ange's tenure.

We look 2 CB's away from a very very good side. Looking forward to watching us this season.

Hojberg is a good player. Massively over used last year.

I would play him over skipp every day of the week.
💯 PEH over Skipp agree but Skipp is homegrown and something has to give but if we loan Sarr and/or sell Lo Celso then I think we’d look to buy Gallagher and probably keep PEH 🤷‍♂️ we shall see ey

I missed the game today but watched the highlights and from what I saw, Ange will be reasonably happy.

Loving the positivity around the place - keep it up!

In the end, the Spammers were lucky to have avoided a complete thrashing we were that good. And with so many different personnel being used.

What is this thing I feel -- hope? Isn't that the thing that kills you?

Looks like just about every player is happier in this system and mostly playing in the positions they prefer to play in. A system that reflects Anges no nonsense personality.

If we can sort out defending set pieces and find our best back four we really are back in the game.

On individual players and the way they played today I think Romero and Richarlison are the big hitters that need to show more to Ange next time out, and I don’t think Kane was too brilliant - will Ange want him to drop deep so often in his system? The others that didn’t impress have been well documented.

I thought Devine did well out wide, I’d like to see him get 45 mins centrally - however he has big competition there in Maddison, Lo Celso and Ndombele.
