United will finish third, end of. Leicester are in free fall but still have huge gd on their side. Newcastle will be our toughest game but a million things need to happen before we can even dream of 5th. If by some miracle it did happen it would be the end of spursy once and for all.

I mean I didn't see it coming, but it isn't really suprising either. Leicester have been a bit crap since the break. One win in five.
They've been crap since January. If us, United and Chelsea had have had one of our typically good seasons they'd have dropped out of the top 4 chase sometime ago.

It's another reason why I wouldn't go anywhere near Brendan Rodgers. He can get a good uplift in the team, he gets them playing some nice football and looks the part. But very quickly it unravels as he has no substance to the style and once fortunes reverse he has no idea how to correct things.

At Swansea, he benefited greatly from Paulo Sousas work. Sousa had laid the foundations and Brendan reaped the rewards which got him the Liverpool gig. He then benefited from having quite possibly one of the most lethal frontlines in PL history (Suarez, Coutinho, Sterling, Sturridge) and plonked them all in the same team yet they leaked goals for fun. They'd have won the league if he'd been a little more pragmatic. Every team was pretty crap that year, even City were quite average and they won it.

Suarez left, which is a pretty big blow granted, but he didn't know how to reenergise or evolve his team. He stuck to the same tactics but didn't have the same results. They gave him plenty of time to change fortunes but he just couldn't do it.

Now at Leicester. It was widely stated that under Puel, Leicester had a very exciting young team but the players didn't seem to like Puel, who'd dropped Vardy. Brendan came in with his blueprint which the players took to straight away and put Vardy back in. It's always easier to motivate a young impressionable team.

Now the same thing is happening again, they've hit a wall and he's struggling to find the answer.

Will people consider it a spectacular failure should they drop out of CL contention despite being in a great position?

I hope ppl realise this the next time they pine for Rodgers because I think he will fail here.

Well that's a more articulate reason than my reasons for not getting him. I mean he has got a massive canvas of himself in his living room. That's super creepy. It reminds me of a time I was invited into a ladies bedroom at uni and the whole room was plastered with photos just of herself, not family or friends, just her, scared the hell out of me!

I think the problem is us winning all our games.
After todays result it should stoke a bit of fire in our boys bellies and breed a bit of confidence in them to finish this season well.

Not beyond the realms of possibility for us to win all 3

United is irrelevant. We would need to finish above Sheffield, Wolves, and Leicester.

If we win all our games I'd say we'd be odds on to do it. But if City's ban isn't upheld tomorrow then it doesn't matter so we'll have to see about that.
It is relevant, because you need the most options. I wouldn't say it is the most likely, because you creating the most likely outcome to, maybe, each individual match, but for all of those matches to go right is a big ask. For me that is far from odds on. What we need is for there to be as many different possible outcomes in our favour as possible.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, she was a sweet girl but a bit hmm intense) I did not. I was a very shy 18 year old, and probably that situation didn't exactly allow me to, erm, let things flow!

So, if:

We win all our remaining games
Man United get at most 1 point from from Southampton, Crystal Palace and West Ham
Leicester lost at home to Sheffield United
They draw with each other on final day
Wolves drop at least 3 points
and Sheffield United drop at least 2 points

We'll come 4th!

Let's start with a Southampton win a OT tonight....

This Southampton performance is really making me miss the days when we would press.

Hassenhutl, Nagelsmann, Pochettino.
One of these three sh... I’m kidding

Southampton look very dangerous though. Pressing all over the place. Yard quicker than Utd everywhere, but also full of mistakes (y)

Despite the early developments in tonight's game, you lost me with this. No way they're not beating a Palace on the beach, let alone WHAM.

Not to worry! We can also overtake Chelsea, just so long as they lose to Norwich, Liverpool and Wolves.

Which is lucky, since Rashford has equalised

Southampton look so good under this guy. What a coach they have.
They stuck with him after the 0-9, gave him even more club wide responsibility even down to how all age groups down to the U9s will be coached, and have given him a four year contract to boot.

I'm genuinely thinking if he stays a few more years that Southampton are going to become a real force.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if they finish above Leicester next season which would be some turnaround

2-1 United :(
