Did anyone see Guardiola as Garcia was wheeled off the pitch past him? His player in a bad way, strapped into a stretcher and he didn't even give the kid a glance as he passed.

Maybe I'm being overly sensitive, but I felt pretty disgusted at what I saw. They're 2-0 up and he's more interested in the game than the welfare of his player?
Not many people know this, but Guardiola is a telepath. It's the secret to his success.

Couldn’t even take over us when we’ve had our best players out for half a season lollll. They are shockingly bad!

I’ve said this before, but if we don’t finish above them this season then it will be an utter embarrassment. Each one of our players would have to have a good long hard look at themselves if that were to happen.

I like Micha Richards doing the punditry on tv, he looks like he really enjoys it and makes it fun when sky can sometimes be a bit dry.

Has Luiz basically just said his loan deal is up in the air so he doesn’t give a shit about the team ?

Not condoning it, but that’s the hallmark of a serial winner, they tend to have tunnel vision during the game and focus on nothingness no but their team

I think this is making something out of nothing. It wasn't a sign of a 'serial winner', nor some cold hard reaction. Like, the guy is doing his job, the player is surrounded by healthcare staff and probably doesn't need his boss in his face at that moment. What do you want them to do? Make a scene, cry over the situation? All the other players were calm and looked chill, all seemed a bit strange to me. But that was the situation.

The game was still 'alive' at the point and the manager had a job to do, reorganise the defense and make sure they come away with the victory. Not go all sentimental (helping absolutely nobody, not the team, not the player and not the medical staff) to appease some random football supporters who, in any case, would find any excuse to not like him. Come off it.

Do Sheffield have grounds for legal action? And if they did, what are the views on this forum around the ethical aspects of legal and/or institutional rectification? It could be there's a legal but not ethical case, or vice versa. Would be interesting to hear views.

Given the that it's the only failure in 9000 matches, and the fact Hawk Eye have released a statement admitting fault, does this make the case yesterday different from other mistaken decisions that cost games/points? Does the empirical certainty of this fault make it different to, say, an interpretive refereeing decision on a foul or card?

You've used a lot of words for "they was robbed". Legal action for what? If the goal had been given, Villa would've changed how they played the remainder of the game. You can't go back after games and start handing goals out. That said, because of the glaringness of the error, I thought they might come out after half-time and give them the goal before proceeding (but even that probably isn't possible).

It sucks for Sheffield United - especially if those 2 points end up costing them a Europa/CL place - but it was just a freak occurrence, I've never once seen the goal-line tech fail.

That’s the thing, people always seem to go along the lines of Sheffield United had a goal that didn’t stand that should and therefore should have won 1-0. It doesn’t work like that though, as mentioned above, if the goal stands it changes the pattern of the game - Villa potentially up their game and grab an equaliser, potentially going on to win. Sheffield United could have gone on to add two or three more, no one knows.

I understand why the media do it, it’s for the controversy. However the idea that a game that finishes 0-0 would have 100% been a 1-0 had a goal been allowed just doesn’t work. That’s why you can never have a legal challenge to a goal not standing.

Reckless by the goalie. What was he thinking.
I personally think he should have been sent off. Reckless play that endangers someone shouldn't just be against the opposition. If he punched a teammate he would be sent off, what's the difference? Needs a rule change.

Jesus, take a pill mate!

I'm ambivalent towards Guardiola, but the absolute lack of reaction, even a glance, towards a player who looked in a serious condition, when they're already 2-0 up, struck a chord.

Sentimentality doesn't even come into the equation. He didn't need to fawn over him. It was the absolute lack of any reaction that bothered me.

I get where you’re coming from but that is dangerous territory. You’d then start having to question what happens if a keeper comes to punch out a corner and collide with literally any of the figures in a crowded box.
Plus who gets the free-kick/penalty?

As a bystander that situation looks weird but Pep is trying to stay focused and there’s minutes left to be played. He can’t let himselves be affected by the situation but I’m sure he was worried...

You are being over sensitive. I imagine Jose would have been the same.

Pep's job is not the medics' job, Pep will already have been fully briefed on Garcia's condition and his more pressing concern would have been for the welfare of his ten men still on the pitch, all of whom had just watched an unconscious teenager be stretchered off on oxygen with a face covered in blood.

Save your disgust for something worthy of it.
