yeah I don’t understand that rule. If a player can be sent off after the final whistle but not after an offside flag goes up it makes no sense.

Something like this was always going to happen with late flags. Although I don't think an early flag would have stopped the collision.

It would have been different if he punched vvd in the face, but he was going for the ball, even though it was a bad challenge, and because he was offside that passage of play doesn't count so I'm guessing can't be a red card.

it does count. endangering an opponent all day long. Referee has had a shocker there.
