What Sky?

“We couldn’t get a winner Theo, but is it a moral victory for Arsenal?”

No, Dave, a victory is only achieved by scoring more than the other team 🤷🏻‍♂️

Arteta is such a lego headed gimp! A good result for us to be fair and I'm sure Citeh will have a wry smile still very much all to play for! Just need those Goons to start getting long term injuries and suspensions something they have nothing but luck with.

If we can take 4 points from our next 2 then we will have done superbly to make it to this point.

It then becomes a bit lighter/exciting going forward, barring any further injuries etc.

On another note;
Spurs
Villa
City
Liverpool
Newcastle

All scored more or the same as Arsenal.

Can they really win the league with that in mind?

Yeah I'd feel a bit more comfortable if City got that down to 3 ppoints and got De Bruyne back.

Feel Arsenal would feel that pressure again if City start purring.

Having said that, if we can start to get players back we may be able to apply pressure too.

only conceded 16 though. their defence, if they win it, will be the difference.

sidenote: Liverpool have also only conceded 16 somehow.

If Romero & Bissouma were disciplined, we should be heading the table with 5 points clear, instead of trailing by 4.

Maybe we still would have shit the bed against Chelsea, but if you play the "what if game" and change the five minutes starting with Romero's red to Maddison's injury, we're probably top of the table. Maybe five or six clear.

True but typically teams who score more goals win titles.

They may do something about it in January but if City, us and Liverpool got right into gear, they would need to really step up with more goals.

Nketiah, Jesus, Havertz, Martinelli and Saka are hardly making a dent in the top goalscorer lists.

Their top goalscorers are Saka and Nktiah with 5 each.

No team is winning a championship with low goalscorer.

Last season City started to really fire and crush teams. Liverpool beat City to the title by doing the same. It will come into effect

So far they've stopped leaking a lot of the poor goals. Yes they've also gotten a few winners in stoppage time, but that's what title winners do.

I wonder if would be better to with a Cricket style DRS. Var stays out of everything unless you appeal a decision made by the on field ref. You get 3 appeals a match. If you appeal an offside call and theres only millimetres in it then it stays as the ref's on field call.

Need to do something different because its not working as it is!

Questions from someone who doesn't really watch cricket - Most of the decisions are factual though correct? Or at least is basically factual based on Hawkeye or other technology (sound/IR).

I still think the problem with football is that any PK or red card decision requires interpretation. Does clear and obvious stick around during a managers challenge? Because what happens to those PK decisions that happen all the time where we go "yeah it's probably just about a foul, but those are never given" and then the manager challenges it? Sounds like potential chaos.

What might work a little better for football would be something similar to the NFL. In the NFL all turnovers and scoring plays are automatically reviewed so the coaches cannot challenge/appeal. However, other plays can be challenged by the head coach (two per game and you get a third if both challenges are won).

In football, I suppose you could keep the "clear and obvious error" standard or at least something close to that and continue to have VAR automatically check goals, PK incidents, and straight red cards while allowing a manager a couple of appeals for things like corner kicks or even yellow cards.

The practical problem with this is that the officials are instructed to keep flags down, and let VAR sort out the offside on a goal.

But, the offside is easier to deal with - even if it is more expensive - but, the UEFA/FIFA system, is an instantaneous decision that tracks both the ball and the players. PL should use all their money and invest in that system for the league.

What is this headline from the BBC? It just seems like it's trying to gin up VAR controversy even though the VAR had nothing to do (or could do) about the send off.

Premier League: Nuno Espirito Santo and Sean Dyche rue VAR decisions in Forest and Everton defeats

Last updated on9 minutes ago9 minutes ago. From the sectionPremier League

New manager Nuno Espirito Santo has said Nottingham Forest "deserve more respect" after Willy Boly was shown a controversial red card on Saturday.
Boly was sent off after just 23 minutes of Forest's 3-2 defeat by Bournemouth.

Despite winning the ball, referee Rob Jones showed the Ivory Coast defender a second yellow card for his tackle on Adam Smith.
"I have seen it over and over again and I still cannot understand it," Nuno said.
"It's a mistake. I think he should have taken more time for VAR [the video assistant referee] to advise him. We and our fans deserve more respect - it's not fair."

Spurs have now scored in 30 consecutive Premier League games and are the only team in the division to register a goal in every league match this season.
