I wouldn't disagree with you but it would fairer to rise to their level through endeavour on a level playing field.
If they are better than everyone else then surely they don't need the advantage of an extra £30m every year.
In fact there is an arguement for saying that the only fair way to beat this uneven bias is by doing it the way chelsea did and nullifying the massive distortion in income.

I personally believe that Villa, Everton & Man City will still be around the same position in 3 years time.

We of course, will be Champions by then!!

The trouble is that teams below us could argue that we shouldn't need the advantage of £30 million over them. After a quick look at the Deloitte Rich List we are now 11th with the fifth largest income in the Prem.
I doubt that there are too many of our fans that would be willing to donate large sums of our income to Blackburn or Pompey to level the playing field.

Although Chelsea gatecrashed into the top four using Abramovich's millions, Liverpool managed to do it on the field and this is the example we need to follow.
Interestingly, they managed to do it off the back of winning the CC, UEFA and FA cups whilst underperforming in the league.
If we can follow in their footsteps of winning the CC and UEFA then I think it would serve as a similar springboard into the higher echelons ourselves (keeping players/attracting new players/increasing revenues/confidence going into the start of next season etc).

A change to the European competitions could be a great move. I definately agree with a 'champions only' cup, as well as a 'cup winner's cup'.

I really don't like the idea of having a cup for teams that lose play-off games. It kind of makes it a loser's cup from the start. This does pose a problem if a team wins the league and also a cup, because how can a non-cup winner qualify for the cup winners cup in place of the actual cup winner. I suppose they'd just have to, and I would have to get over it.

I like the idea of maybe places 2-4 in the league being rewarded with a European competition, too. More big teams in the UEFA cup would raise it's profile.

We could have a special cup for the teams who score the most goals in a season (maybe taken from the teams who fail to qualify for another trophy). Also another one for the team that picks up the most cards in a season. It could make a really exciting season end for mid-table teams who currently have nothing to play for. Gung-ho football with ugly tackles, proper fights and swearing.

They did the whole play-off thing in Hollnad for the last few seasons, i cant remember if its been scrapped but i seem to remmebr that everyone hated it!

It reminds me of my favorite banner ive seen at a football match, it read:

PLAY OFF
FUCK OFF

It was short and to the point, plus the fact they put it in English for my benefit was lovely :)

They were still doing it last season, in fact it was play-offs a-go-go*. Only PSV, Heracles and Willem II weren't involved in one.

*Not to be confused with Junior 'Whiskey' Agogo, Ghana's ANC star, Forest's top scorer, and (allegedly) the next step in 'arry's masterplan to buy every striker on the planet.
