I really for the life of me cannot understand how they have the neck to peddle the utter nonsense that they’re coming out with. So They are saying a player deep breathing, full of sweat touching and grappling with however many people is not at risk of passing the virus on because he wasn’t close to somebody for more than 15 minutes?? If that’s the case why are people who carry out tests in full hazmat suits when all they are doing is taking a swab that takes 5 seconds? Why are all the pubs and restaurants still shut? And more importantly why were so many people denied the chance to go and say goodbye to a loved one for fear that they would spread the virus?

There’s no question they are bending the rules to get this on. The test track and trace rules are very clear. If this Norwich player came in close contact with any of our players They should self isolate it’s quite clear. On one hand we have said the Norwich player played, on the other we have said he didn’t go near our players. There was clearly full contact in the game so it’s just a nonsense.

We don't know what player it was or how long they were even on the pitch for.

PL has its own set of rules and they are being tested every week (I think)

I think it was a mistake to play the friendly on Friday before the results came out, but we need to play games to get fitness back up.

Interesting thing about home advantage (caveats with not that big a sample size etc).

As for spurs, it felt like we barely even had one last season.

This stats doesn't mean anything.

In La Liga from 7 matches played after restard 3 away wins was from 3 teams higher in the table than opponent so it's completely normal.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

The bit I hate is players saying well can’t afford to lose’ all over back of the Express.
Havent missed that side of football. I always wish they would just do their talking on the pitch
Yeah, that's a real pet hate for me.

So could it have been a goalkeeper? If they don't think there were any close interactions, then that player would to have either not played or been away from all of ours.

So presumably all Norwich players have to isolate now?

No.
It's been said since May that the individual will need to isolate, not the team.

I don't think they published the rules and regulations about covid and testing, but it's not the ones we are living by.

I’m amazed nobody has brought up Chelsea and Reading. We called off Reading as they supposedly had 4 cases and Chelsea played them 2 days earlier.

This just goes to show you they really have to abandon the season. Positive tests with players training or playing wouldnt be happening if tracing was done as it should be. They have to be contracting the virus somewhere. Squads will have to self isolate to be certain

They’ll abandon it after Liverpool win the league, then everything will be done on PPG just likes leagues one and two.

the thing is if the Norwich players travelled by coach, then they either used 2 coaches to be able to distance themselves too and from us, or the Norwich game next week could be a threat if too many catch it on the journey

Players are meant to travel in their own cars.

I think I heard on the radio they used 3 coaches to keep social distancing, I think it is a standard all teams have to apply too

They're playing the fake crowd noise in the Leverkusen Bayern game right now on BT1, they're proposing on doing the same to the Prem games when they return. I have to say it does add to the experience, thumbs up from me.

I briefly watched Galatasaray yesterday with no added crowd noise. It was awful. I like the added noise in the German games, so it's also a thumbs up from me.

I really don't know what to expect. First, the games themselves. Will they actually be proper competitive matches or glorified pre-season friendlies? Will the matches be slow paced, cautious affairs with the lack of atmosphere and warmer conditions adding to the general vibe?
Second, what will the re-launch have done for us. Let’s face it, we were dismal for most of the last 18 months. The more recent injuries had added to the general malaise and a plummet to the bottom half of the league was in full progress. Most of us were dreading the next 2 home games against Man Utd and West Ham, fully expecting zero points. The team spirit was through the floor. Jose had rapidly returned to ' Moaninho' type and the prospect of him starting 2020/21 in charge was no more than 50/50. Apart from Burnley (home), our form was patchy and unconvincing. Too much credit was given to our closing the gap to Chelsea as evidence of great improvement, when it was more down to Chelsea hitting their own bad patch. Reality hit home when we played them and were totally inept. Chelsea and Man Utd, in particular, had clearly moved ahead of us in the ‘pecking order’.
On paper, we have probably benefited most from the lockdown as our star players have returned and Jose has had time to have another go at putting together a winning formula. I have heard and read many drooling over the apparent impressive strength of our squad. People are talking about ‘9 cup finals’ which could lead to us making an unlikely charge into a Champions League qualifying position of 4th or, more likely, 5th (City appeal pending). Another benefit for us is that most of our CL rivals are still involved in either the FA Cup or European competition , whereas we can just concentrate solely on each league match, something which has irritated us before when teams have had a free run while we have been run into the ground. There are encouraging reports of a transformed N’dombele and of players enjoying Jose’s company and ideas. I can certainly see this being an ideal situation for Spurs. We don’t tend to do well when we are sitting pretty and everyone is expecting us to succeed but to go on a quick-fire run and storm up the table is definitely within our capabilities with a full squad. The games themselves will almost certainly be less competitive and slower, which is likely to suit the Jose approach better than the’ up and at them’ teams.
I think this does have the potential to be a defining period for Jose. A complete failure to improve will set alarm bells ringing and it will probably only be the financial implications to the club which will keep him in the job. Similarly, it will probably only be the financial position in general which will keep the likes of Kane and Son from being tempted away as their price tags will be too high. On the other hand, a run to 4th(unlikely) or 5th(possible) could just stop the rot and press a -re-set button for next season with the likes of Kane and Son fully motivated. With 2 or 3 clever (zero net cost) moves in/out and N’dombele, GLC, Tanganga, Parrot reaching their potential, maybe there is a route back to being a team which can challenge for top 4 and trophies?

Apart from watching Arsenal humiliation it was really quite shit. Even a game like City Arsenal seemed pretty dull even though a lot happened if that makes sense. Can see me just watching the big games and our matches. Villa Sheffield United was horrendous.

Might be controversial but I honestly don't think it's much different at all to before. It's more that people are realising they don't like football as much as they thought they did.

Maybe theres hope, the chavs first team have to self isolate or maybe they are dirty culprits that passed onto reading ....
