My wife supports Watford so it is civil war in our house on 28th December. The biggest misconception presented by the press about Watford is how they bought all these players and came into this season with a new team. In fact half of the team that plays was there last season. People should not be surprised about Deeney and Ighalo who were there last year and pretty impressive. Before the start of this season I was hoping Spurs would take a chance on Ighalo. What all these new players do mean is that Watford have strength in depth and this may well benefit them later in the season. They also have players from last year to come in, like Guedioura who was the guy who really pushed them to promotion at the end of the season.

To be fair to have three of your back four, both central midfielders and either one or both wingers, depending on selection, be new signings is a lot. Essentially only regulars there before this season were Gomes, Cathcart, Deeney and Ighalo.

Abdi and Watson were also there last season. That makes six of the side that started against Liverpool.

Watson is still a summer signing having been there on loan last season. They probably have more minutes from new signings this season than any other side.

Let's just have a wee summary will we:
GK: Always Gomes
RB: Always Nyom (new)
CB: Cathcart with either Britos (new) Or Prodl (new)
LB: Either Ake (new) or Holebas (new)
CM: Capoue (new) with either Watson(new), or initially with Behrami (new)
Wings: Two of Abdi, Anya, Jurado (new)
ST: Deeney and Ighalo

9 out of 15 names listed were signed this summer.

Do not disagree the new players signed this summer have had a big impact. Also do not want to turn this into Watford Community since I hope Spurs hammer them tomorrow. Just want you to get your facts right about which players were signed this summer. Watson signed January 2015, and Abdi and Anya both signed permanently in July 2013. That means six who started against Chelsea were there last season.

Fair enough, I'm misinformed on Watson. However I know Abdi and Anya have been there ages (by Watford standards). I don't think my post suggested otherwise?

It didn't. Think I misread that bit. Will be a hard game tomorrow and I just hope Spurs are ready for a battle. Old and new Watford players are all excelling.

2 things Alex

3rd paragraph 1st sentence reads as a typo to me.

In the article you state Kane has scored his 28th and 29th league goals in 2015, but later you say he has scored 27. I thought it was 27 myself.

Otherwise good article. I would maybe have enjoyed a little more info on Watford since I'm not a regular watcher, but enjoyed it (y)

Ah thank you! Will double check the goals and edit as needed. Cheers for the feedback mate.
