12 years of preparation.

The thing is, with a little imagination and flair they could have made these soulless boxes in a dockyard into something welcoming and full of Middle Eastern flavour. A bit of colour, some flags, fairy lights, street food, entertainers etc they could have made it in to a party.

Right now it looks like a holding area for people awaiting deportation, and that’s being kind.

Just found a load of classic World Cup games on the ITV player. Maybe a good alternative for those not watching the tournament this year. I've just put on England against Argentina from 86.
the FIFA website has the official movies of past World Cups. I put Spain 82 on and about halfway through there is a sequence filming on the beach with topless women all over the place - did not expect that.

my interest in this wc is only marginally above zero. good chance i wont be watching a single game. only right thing about it is that russia are banned(or i presume they are)
Iran should be being kicked in the nuts too, if not booted out then certainly have to play in a plain kits/no national flag or name etc.

for some balance, here’s the Qatari side of the story. Tweeted seven minutes ago. Almost certainly coincidentally and surely just as recent as other videos uploaded by some next fucks.

French bloke on the bbc website video of the tented village at £175 per night. Had enough after a few hours. Paid 2,700 for 3 weeks. Thought it was a hotel , leaving because no shower gel, toothbrush or toothpaste.!!!!!!!!
Tents are thick plastic and as hot as hell. Two beds and a chair in the tent and that’s it.
Brown water from taps and shower opposite the tents.
Some very naive people in the world today.

Gary Lineker presenting like he's about to announce the death of a monarch.

edit: only lasted the opening link.

Lol Mohammed Bin Salman is sitting there so awkwardly.

Now that's over, I'm off to the cinema.

Can’t believe they didn’t use this legend in the ceremony.

A nice summary there by Ross Atkins. I really like the features that he does. Very simple and informative.

BBC team chucked into a studio with horrible acoustics, but someone doing the dishes in the background really doesn’t help.
