There are many reasons why we're third at the moment.
The manager, the team spirit, Hugo's keeping, Son's form, Sissoko's resurgence, Jimmy Hill...
Jimmy Hill, I hear you say? He of the inordinately large chin and progenitor of playground taunts in the face of dubious claims?
Yes, Jimmy Hill.
Back in 1981, Jimmy successfully campaigned for three points for a win, claiming that this would create more exciting football. It's arguable whether it succeeded in this regard, but what it did do was favour those teams who won more games rather than lost fewer.
Which, this season, is us.
Had we retained the old two points for a win system, we'd currently be fifth, behind Chelsea and Arsenal on goal difference.
So well done Jimmy. I'm sorry for ever doubting you.
