When you take a step back, Richarlison is the better fit for us and in Conte's system than Raphinha.

The thing is, Richarlison isn't better in the WF positions than Raphinha. And Richarlison isn't a better striker than Kane, so he is joining to padd out depth as a rotation option.

Whereas Raphinha could actually come in and make RW his position. He can also play LW and Son can play upfront.

I just prefer us to sign the better player, and it's not like Raphinha is totally wrong for our system either.

Arsenal getting both GJ and Raphinha would be a serious outlay and rehaul in attack. Well over 100m

Let's make sure we wrap up Richarlison then.

The worst-case scenario would be him going to Chelsea and Raphinha going to the goons.

Both Raphinha and Richarlison are still on holiday.

I doubt much has been done on the last few days of their holidays.

Hopefully they are back soon and we can get this done or moved on soon.

Not at all. There are so many good options and I’m sure we have our finger on the pulse with a few of them.

These two are not the be all and end all.

Well their camp are certainly sounding bullish on their chances. Lot's of smoke with Arsenal on this one which doesn't bode well. Would love to see Ornstein with egg on his face.

Ornstein saying Richarlison is our first choice and Arsenal now firm favourites for Raphinha.

That would be really disappointing if true :(

Let's focus on our business.... just maybe our DOF or GM whatever his title is will unearth us our own Raphina type of reinforcement.

Arsenal are replacing 1st team players (Lacazette & Aubameyang) .....we reinforcing our squad. We have different priorities I suppose so I asked comfort in that.... just as long as we don't shop in tje bargain bin I'm okay with it.

But then Raphinha isn't necessarily better than Kulusevski at this moment in time and like it or not Raphinha is predominantly deployed out on the right cutting in on the left so will be the position of rotation in the main.

That's not me being short sighted as I know it's about a squad and not a 'first XI' as such but Richarlison is undoubtedly more versatile across all the front 3, provides more physicality which is a Conte staple and what it does potentially do is afford us more financial wiggle room elsewhere should we need to up the ante in say LCB from going from a Lenglet to a Gvardiol and saves the necessity to then look at a ST which outside of a stupid amount for Osimhen, doesn't particularly grab me.

This is obviously a very fluid situation and next week looks pivotal.

Ornstein is very reliable for Arsenal, so think we will end up with richarlison and then raphinha

He is, but as WLB says, his article is clearly from the Arsenal camp, just the way it's written "feeling is Arsenal have put themselves into a strong position" etc. So maybe the player and his agent are secretely more interested in us . But as I say, when there is so much noise around one club, you rarely see a gazumping, so I'd be surprised to see us come from nowhere now to start leading this deal, but who knows.

I think it's just us holding the cards close to our chest and not let anyone else have the chance to jump in on players like Bissouma
Makes me think a couple of deals that no one predicted may pop up this week.

Maybe we just arent that heavy on Raphinha.
