Exactly. From what I’ve been told by scum mates they are going to spend over £200m this summer. Starting to look like they were telling the truth too. It’s scary as I thought we were going to be the ones going big having made CL and promised to back Conte.
Absolutely, but neither of those players are the 20-25 goal a season striker they actually need.

Would be pretty annoying if this is the one window we go for it supposedly, and Arsenal end up spending more than us. I know it's not always how much you spend, but it's more about how it looks.
It is rather fucking hilarious that they piss about for half a decade with Wenger and Emery and now Kroenke decides he's going to open his coffers to Edu and Teta. I wonder what exactly they see in Mikel. The guy has to be incredibly smooth behind the scenes, asking for this level of backing and investment compared with his on pitch product.

Well if they are happy to spend that sort of money on him it's a really good sign imo(not them getting him). It doesn't actually address any of their issues and tells me they are completely clueless in what they are doing. Short of them looking to spend 200/250 million this Summer spending 60+ on a position currently occupied by their best player seems ludicrous. Just looks like a big money signing to appease the fans based on no actual plan.
But a good player they sign is a good player we cant sign.

A big money signing to appease the fans and not actually fixing what their problems are? I don't believe it. Not Arsenal. Never.

*checks historic transfer list*
*sees loads of wingers/attackers*

Oh.

From what I understand, it was Wenger himself who more often than not refused to spend big. The money was there for him if he had asked for it.

Arsenal could spend a billion but that no zero bearing on whether we're backing our manager.

There is that side of it. It is a lot of money and doesn't really patch up any of their squad weaknesses.

That would be one downside if we did beat them to the signing of Raphinha. They could end up putting that £60m to better use than being competition for their best player. Even Gabriel Jesus apparently prefers playing on the right!

If they were signing Scamacca or Richarlison I'd probably be more concern as they do need a physical presence up top IMO.

Couple that with Edu's words yesterday about a "young and exciting" team, then what you have is a club who are simply investing in the future rather than the here and now. That's fine with me because they are not prioritising success and the stable core you need to have in order to achieve success.

Sounds to me like they are just trying to excite their fans because they know they can't build a championship winning team.

If we got Charlison and a creative midfielder/winger to replace Bergwijn, I can't say I'd be that upset.

WLB is totally right. Even if we do lose out on him (which isn't confirmed) this isn't the end of the world.

Haha, seriously, people need to relax a bit. Arsenal are probably scrambling because they know we want to get involved. They offered a deal that looks easily replicated by us, so all that needs to happen is for us to say we will do it and then leave it up to Raphinha. If he chooses them, he's a fucking idiot and that's totally fine.

Ars*nal clearly not prioritising their real problems... 20+ goalscorer and leaky defence ?

There's 1 way he chooses Arsenal over Spurs: If Arsenal offer him ridiculous wages. If they want to do that, more power to them. They can continue to f*ck their budget.

We got other options.

That said, I still think he ends up at Spurs.
