Worth mentioning that statistically you improve your team more efficiently by swapping your worst players for better ones than by adding more quality at the top end of your squad, e.g. it's better to lift the floor than raise the ceiling.
There is no sign that we cant do both though. If you are giving me an option of signing Bastoni or Raphinha, I pick Bastoni. But its not like signing Raphinha will stop us from signing quality elsewhere.

Having the ability to rotate with 'better' players will expand on the 'This is on Conte' moans after games where we don't win. The hindsight will be rampant. Shouldn't have rested this or that player, should have picked him, the whole lot. The 'best eleven' thing as it was when we weren't acting like a football club will be largely redundant but that'll take some time to seep into consciousness of the SC hive ;)
There won't be Winks to blame things on either. They took fuck sake Dele away and now they'll take fuck sake Winks away. We're getting to a point where the scapegoat will be a top quality player. Fuck sake Sonny, Raphina would have scored that if he wasn't on the bench.

Why on Earth would you replace him? The guy was absolutely phenomenal and barely needed to settle in. He got better and better as the season went on and was a huge reason we got top 4. Kulu has everything and is 3 years younger than Raphinha. To be honest it would be ludicrous to drop Kulusevski out of the starting 11 when he could easily develop into one of the best players in Europe.

Raphinha would be a brilliant impact sub option and he’d start a good amount of games but fans are obsessed over shiny new signings and hype them to the extent that even apparently one of our best players would lose his spot in the side. Swear it’s this pace lust once again too.
'Impact sub option' ? Instead of us making these assumptions lets just see what happens if it happens.

Completely - gross up his output for a full season and you have someone scoring 10/11 goals with 16+ assists. A crude and unrepresentative way of looking at it, perhaps, but that is a cast iron, first pick type of player.

No one is irreplaceable, of course, but 26 goal contributions were bettered only by Kane, Son and Salah - says it all

In which case after upgrading our wing backs, which is half done so far, upgrading Bergwijn and Moura is probably next on the list as that’s where the biggest drop off in quality is within the squad.
I see the front 3 similar to the back 3, we have 3 sure starters inbothareas and the backups are decent but not threatening to start. So really the front 3 and back 3 are of equal importance. Sanchez is similar sort of level to Bergwijn and Moura while Tanganga and Rodon not yet developed into good enough quality. Ultimately will.all need replacing but may not be able to replace everyone this window. At a bare minimum we need one more quality centre back and one more attacker who are good enough to start without drop off in quality.

Not for me. I don’t think he’s all that. Doesn’t seem to have close control of the ball and no weight of pass.

think there is better value out there.

Barcelona have bid for lewandowski (no idea how they have the money)

So might rule them out if this one.
I think lewandowski has fallen out with his coach and is really pushing for the barca move with maybe just one year on his contract so it's way more than just silly season rumours. (y)

If the ITK in the Richarlison thread is correct, then we really need to try and wrap up a deal for Raphinha or we’d have missed out on two of our main targets. Add that to missing out on Bastoni and it starts to look like less of a positive window.

Come on Spurs, get him in!

I do wonder if Chelsea are doing a bit of plate spinning of their own re Richarlison. I imagine they'd have their eye on bigger fish like Sterling or even Neymar, the new owners will want marquee signings more than anything.

Those plates are a spinning.

Assume this means the player isn't convinced on Arsenal or else I'd imagine it would have moved more quickly.
They player hasn’t said yes to anyone apart from Barca pre transfer window . Time is needed to mull over his preference and the best package ? very normal in big deals. Also convincing the selling club on what they thinks the best package to release him from his contract time is needed .

It makes me more positive about getting Raphinha to be honest. The main thing that made me wonder if we'd miss out on him was the prospect of favouring Richarlison but if that's out the window I feel this may very well get done.

Makes perfect sense. Part of him probably still wanting to hold out until Barca sign alternatives before committing too.
