Well.

For 56 minutes I enjoyed that match.

The early scepticism encountered by seeing Walker on the team sheet when we'd already listed 4 defenders had dissipated during the tactical but intriguing first half, a half in which Chelsea bided their time and we poked and prodded, largely to little effect but nonetheless comfortably keeping them at arms length.
And then the God of Football looked down upon us and laughed. He winked at Jose Mourinho and went about his devilish way.

I cannot remember ever seeing a game that involved 3 separate individual error for goals (Liverpool (A) last year was 2?), not to mention the harshest penalty and red card combo in some years. I will make note of the fact that all 3 mistakes were made by player playing in their non-chosen positions... You can't learn a position overnight, Walker especially
Will we ever get to finish one of these games with 11 men? That was the crime on display, all else were misdemeanours borne of collective apathy & a lack of leadership, something & maybe the only thing that has prolonged Dawson's tenure; he wasn't so bad today but his crossfield balls were all too prevalent.

SO it was a clusterfuck of a collapse. All too familiar, and that we never have the character to react to an injustice with anger and passion is very frustrating. I think we are the only team in the league with such a weak underbelly & if you find it we keel over consistantly.

Sherwood was right to be annoyed but went the wrong way about expressing it.

What more can be said?

Tactics: were not so bad, we matched them for an hour & looked competent against a well drilled unit. They are good; effective but unflashy.
After the sending off it was awful. Why Sandro at the back? WHy not switch Naughton over to LB, Walker right, Verts inside? Walker central midfield? WTF! Thinking on the hoof sure, but it was utterly clueless by then.

Lloris: Distribution was abysmal, really really bad. 4
Naughton:
Worked well with Walker nullifying Hazard and is in pretty good form for the class whipping boy. A run of games has helped maybe? 7 MOTM CAN YOU HEAR ME HATERZ!!
Dawson:
Too much Hollywood passing, but fine generally 6
Kaboul:
The shoelace incident apart, looked good in the air & so unlucky to get sent off 6
Vertonghen:
Good going forward. I like that about his game when he's in at left back. But the mother of all pieces of bad luck to slip and the worst outcome after the attempted recovery. He really doesn't look like he's enjoying life though & that's a concern & had given up by the end which is reprehensible. 3
Walker:
Right midfield? Kinda worked for a bit but ended up centre midfield & just fucked it completely at the end. 4
Bentaleb:
Kept it simple & promising for 45 minutes but disappeared 2nd half for me 6
Lennon:
Not sure what to think. Had energy but little end product. This is what he does. 5
Sigurdsson:
I am going to presume he is the most positionally disciplined player in the world & that's why coaches love him, cos he sure as shit does nothing else. Utterly invisible. 2
Adebayor:
No chance in this game, well marshalled generally, stil looked most likely to do something until it turned to shit.. 5
Sandro:
Love the commitment as ever, WTF is he doing at CB in any situation? I am starting to wonder if he's the same player he was before the injury & I know that's unpopular and maybe harsh but... Marvellous shot though & unlucky not to score 6
/ 3 (as CB)
Paulinho: Neat, tidy but on the pitch during the capitulation so points off 5
Fryers
: as above 5

Sherwood: Brave tactics, maybe foolish, asked too much playing 4 players coming off injuries and a decline of sorts in the second half was kinda inevitable due to that, made a mess of the post match interview, maybe lost the players; is really gonna get tested now.

We also have a centre back crisis.

Fucking football!

Naughton- he was actually quite good.

Would need to see it again, instinct was that the second goal came about as a result of him. Where had he ran off to for Hazard(?) to be free on that side of the penalty area.

Though I guess no-one can really come out of that with too much credit.

In matches like these, our "Man of the Match" is actually our least shitty player

I'd probably give it to Ade.....thought he worked hard and held it up really well at times.

Sandro MoM ... kicked people, had our only decent effort on goal ... yes he was at fault for a goal but were was our central defence?

Ade ran around/looked like he cared.

Everyone else was either distinctly average or in Walker's case, a shower of sh*te.

We matched Chelsea until the Vertonghen blunder. If we had finished 0-0 the ratings would be a lot better, but in typical Spurs fashion we lose 4-0 and it doesn't look good.

Naughton played well I thought. Sandro was absolutely everywhere and a nuisance to the Chelsea midfield. Jan was getting forward very well in parts.

The individual mistakes were really poor. I thought Lennon was poor again today, I thought he'd do a lot more. He once played in the middle vs Villa for a small role and done very well, i thought he could run at them a bit and didn't

Hugo - 5 - Didn't have to do too much apart from pick the balls out of the net

Walker - 5 - Tried to get forward well, lacked that killer pass at the right time. Let down by that daft header at the end

Dawson - 5 - We had five minutes of possession a couple of times, cue Dawson to hit a long diagonal into touch. Defended well against Eto'o at times

Naughton - 7 - Tried hard, played it neat and tidy and linked up well. Surprised

Vertonghen - 5 - Excellent going forward and looked dangerous. Had a monumental fuck up afterwards and that was the start of our downfall. Get a feeling he doesn't want to be here, might just be me misreading him

Bentaleb - 5 - Very neat on the ball, rarely gives it away, didn't take his chance in the first half, should have hit the target. He'll get better

Lennon - 3 - Didn't do much at all, game passed him by

Siggy - 3 - Same as Lennon, Only really see him take a few poor corners

Sandro - 8 - MOTM for me. Made an error near the end but his closing down and pressing all over was great to see. Almost hit a wonder volley, just didn't give up

Adebayor - 6 - Held the ball up well, but it always seemed he was 40 yards away from goal and only a couple of options to pass to

As for Sherwood, Not sure why he persists with Lennon. I've always wanted a Spurs manager to play Kyle Walker on the right wing as he can help out the right back too. I've seen Walker do some great crosses in the past against Norwich, maybe we should try that again. I don't think Tim could control what was happening on the pitch, we were edging it until that moment of madness. Oh well

Sandro historically takes about 3-4 games to get up to speed so questioning whether he is the same player after injury is a bit premature, but voted him MOM as he is the only one that seemed to care.

And in all truth he's about the only player i give a shit about atm...

Thought Naughton played well against Hazard, deserves massive credit for that. He was our only defender not to make a mistake today too.

I only watched the first half which was tactically inventive. I think it should put to bed Sherwood's perceived tactical ineptness. Seeing walkers ability to carry the ball and athleticism and playing him forwards was a master stroke

Has Lloris even come close to saving a penalty for us? His goalkeeping for the penalty today was worse than Everton's rookie keeper vs Arsenal.
