Son and Dier terrible too, but if you play 2 at central midfield you can't have performance like Bissouma gave. Ever. Can't believe he wasn't subbed for Sarr or Skipp.

Kulusevski MOTM as per usual.

Tanganga was terrible. Dier also pretty shocking.

Bissouma struggled quite a bit.

Another bizarre performance where we only bother to show up for half the match and are left wondering what could have been. I really don't get this team.

We likely win with Bentancur, Romero, and Sanchez all starting.

Forster- 5 did what he could tbh but he’s pretty meh isn’t he

Dier- 3 he needs replacing this January, been a shit show for the most part this entire season so far

Tanganga- 3 I think this is the match where I lost all faith in him ever being even a squad player for us. His career started so brightly but he’s been really poor for a long time now

Lenglet- 6.5 I like this guy, he’s not the quickest but he’s calm on the ball, Ok defensively and has a great left foot and passing range showed by his brilliant cross for Kane’s goal

Doherty- 6 he did OK but he’s another quite meh player who we could do with upgrading really

Hojbjerg- 6 He missed Bentancur’s presence today. Great finish for the goal but overall not a great game from him today.

Bissouma- 5 He gets a 5 for a much better second half but my god he was bad first half. Frustrating that we’re still seeing a shadow of his Brighton form

Perisic- 7 MOTM I thought he was one of our most creative players today. Put in a shift and made a lot of good play happen

Kulusevski- 7 not his best game today, but things just weren’t quite coming off for him. Love the way he plays the game though, he’s composure personified

Kane- 6 nice goal but he’s really not at his usual level with his all round play this season. Not making the ball stick anywhere near enough

Son- 4 another game where almost everything he did was without any quality. We need him to start showing up soon or it’s going to be a tough ask to make the top 4

Not much to write home about but 2 brilliant balls into the box for Kane, 1 a goal and 1 hit the bar. Giving it to Lenglet. Get him signed permanently. Kulusevski caused a few problems too. Such a clever player.

Not sure why Perisic is walking away with this when he didn’t even try getting back in position for the opening goal.

Seen Son getting a lot of unwarranted hate after the game, thought he was ok but there seems to be weird agenda against him swirling around. Wasn’t at his best, no, but he was positive and beat his man a fair few times

Forster 6
Doherty 5
Tanganga 3
Dier 3
Lenglet 6
Perisic 7.5
Hojberg 6.5
Bissouma 4
Deki 7

For me the problem with the, 'We only start playing when we go behind' analysis is that it ignores that Brentford put an amazing effort in to press and sometimes swamp our players for the first 60 or so.

Short of technical players today we , as often, were overrun.

When Brentford inevitably tired, only then did our forwards find the space to do damage.

Agree about Son. I thought it was his best performance for a while. Was trying hard just things not quite going his way.

Pretty fair analysis. Amazing that so many’s view of our performances doesn’t take into account the opposition’s performance.
Traditionally we don’t start very well in the early 12:30 KO. Add to that it’s Boxing Day, after a 6 week break and away to such a well drilled terrier like team such as Brentford it not surprising we started slowly. Some credit should be given for our comeback and we really were unlucky not to win in the end.
