For me the problem with the, 'We only start playing when we go behind' analysis is that it ignores that Brentford put an amazing effort in to press and sometimes swamp our players for the first 60 or so.

Short of technical players today we , as often, were overrun.

When Brentford inevitably tired, only then did our forwards find the space to do damage.
I definitely agree that a big part of the reason we seem to play so poorly in the 1st half is due to the way our opposition (in this case Brentford) perform.
But when it happens so often surely we have to look at ourselves and why we don’t seem to be able to prevent it from happening…. like ever!

It will cost us and probably already has. I didn’t expect Newcastle to finish above us but right now I don’t see us getting near them or Arsenal. Meaning we’ll have to finish above Liverpool, Chelsea and Utd to finish in the Top 4.
Unless we have a phenomenal January both on and off the field that's just not gonna happen.

Watching the scum games shows how badly we need someone like odegaard but the formation we have doesn't accommodate him. Our wingbacks are essentially our additional attacking outlet which is fucking laughable as they are all shit apart from Perisic who is clearly not at his peak

Credit to Thomas Franck really. He set up to exploit our weaknesses. He put 3 in CM (everyone does) and they ran rings round our pivot for 60 minutes. He made sure Ivan Toney was on Tangana most of the time and they targeted that. It's nothing earth shattering but it worked until we woke up. Wish Conte would set us up to try to win the midfield, but then that would mean benching Son or Kulu, but with so many subs now available to change things up, it would make a change to going behind every single game because we can't get a foothold.

We would of won that easily with Romero and Bentacur in there.

Spot on…:.Everyone seems to think we should easily beat Brentford. So a lot is being ignored! The same Brentford team that beat city at the etihad

Unfortunately, this is the bit that people ignore. I can't believe we are that unfit but somehow come back when we are more tired, or the tactics are to absorb until 60 minute and then fight back.

To go behind nine times in a row
smacks of attitude and desire rather than mere misfortune.
And to come back to score 14 points
from losing positions
speaks of the same.

Conte may say with Churchill
'Give me the tools and I'll finish the job'
But attitude and desire
are well within his terms of reference
without further expense.

His input from the touchline lately
is one of resignation
rather than concern and inspiration.
I fear the worst.
Offski not long term stayski.

Broken like a butterfly on the Tottenham wheel.

Not sure why Perisic is walking away with this when he didn’t even try getting back in position for the opening goal.
I think hes a problem and part of the reason we go behind a lot playing wing back.

Then when the opposition are sat in trying to hold the lead he doesnt have to defend and does well with crossing so looks like hes had a decent input into the game, but if we had someone with speed to get up and down the pitch in the first half we might not be trying to dig ourselves out of that hole in the first place.

Yes, for me the issue is that we don't have enough technique atm to break the press smoothly . Hopefully Bentancur and Romero will be back soon to help with this.

New technical player(s)in Jan window plz

Yes, I noticed that...Plus he laughs about our performances in pressers.
