Also, is it just me or was Moura absolutely awful when he came on?
A mate in my Spurs WhatsApp who also has a profile on here described him as

"like watching my cat smack a quality street wrapper around the floor. Could go anywhere. Probably lose it under the couch"

Made me chuckle.

Moura had 4 simple passes to make that could have ended with a shoot goal he fluffed every one it is sad to say that he is a likeable person but a awful footballer

Ndombele for me. He passes the ball harder and faster than another player - often they are arrows into the penalty area. If the receiving striker has the touch to control the pace of the ball, they will often be in a excellent position as Ndombele is brilliant at spotting spaces between defenders. The speed of the ball leaves the defence little time to react. Fortunately we have a strikers with great first touches.

In respect of his brilliant goal, I think the way he struck the ball was typical of Ndombele (and in no way a lucky mis-hit). If you watch him in general play you will see he tends to hit the ball halfway between the instep and a side foot - often the ball comes off at an oblique angle exactly as he intends.

What stops him from being world class is he lacks mental toughness, and not good enough defensively. On the latter point he is improving. I suspect Jose is also working on the toughness - he is certainly not mollycoddling him.

When I saw the starting lineup I was hopeful that this formation would work.
Equally I was hopeful that this would be the start of Ndombele playing in his best position.

Lloris-7 couldn’t really do anything about the goal. One nice goal kick for bergwijn to start a counter
Serge- 8 great header, certainly first choice rb this season
Rodon- 7 impressive again, solid although did get outpaced by mcgoldrick once.
Dier 7 won a lot of headers
Davies 6 didn’t win the key header, did pretty much everything else well
Reguilon 7 wingback is perfect for him. A constant threat
Hojbjerg. 6. Such a leader. But today I felt he dwelt on the ball too much, and turned down forward passing opportunities too often. Part of the problem today when we have the ball.
Ndombele 9 he lasted 90 mins! Not just that, scored a sublime goal and controlled the play with his touch, turning and vision. MoM
Bergwijn 7 contributes a lot to the team with his running off the ball and his pace. A goal will come for sure.
Son 6 an average game by his standards. Another assist from a corner (a massive improvement for the team).
Kane 8 great goal, could have had a hat trick.

Vinicius and Sanchez do well to get a mention
Lucas 2. Touched the ball
Jose 7 for having the nous to change the team and get the best out of Ndombele. Points deducted for the timing and choice of substitutes.
Could have easily given bale and Vinicius 15mins for Kane and Son

We're gonna win the league now. I can see it. We set up differently today, and we controlled the match even if it was only Sheffield United.

I might as well say the above, since there's an unwritten rule that one cant provide negative comments on the team when we win.

There's no rule saying you have to provide a comment either way so if you're gonna speak shit you shouldn't bother posting.

It was obvious that Tanguy was the best player on the pitch.

Don't disagree with Winksyboy, he hits out hard with Spam Ratings if you do. :D

Tanguy obviously Man of the Match. Played some brillant stuff especially in first half and the goal was quality.
Other than that I think no one really stood out in one way or another. Nice that we can attempt a football match not playing Sissoko in a major role.

IMO Hojbjerg was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch. I realise that Tanguy will get plaudits for his 'wonder goal' though.
Not sure why you have been panned with negatives for having your own opinion. I dont agree with you as I think Tanguy was motm, but Hojbjerg did put in another great shift. No doubt there. It'd getting a bit silly at times here as unless you tow the party line you can be sidelined.

Someone convince me that Tanguy meant his goal and not a cross. I'd love to think he meant it, but I'm on the fence and can't make my mind up. There were 2 running into the box at the time, so.i thought it was an intended cross.

Moura is worrying me, poor bloke looks really devoid of form. Is it positional or is it mental? We've all.seen what he is capable of.

Honorable mention to Rodon. Him and Tanganga could be one hell of a future partnership of developed properly.

If you’ve made up your mind that it’s not a shot then I doubt it’s possible for anyone to convince you otherwise; not even if Tanguy himself provided a detailed explanation of his thought process.

As he ran through, I thought, “Only thing he can do here is attempt a lob.”

I personally believe it was absolutely, unquestionably deliberate.

I haven't. I'm on the fence. A pointy one with no lube.

Tbh my problem with Hojbjerg yesterday was the amount of times he turned down a forward pass. Only to then demand it back off the defender.

In general I’ve been a massive fan of his this season- and I also really enjoyed watching him dictate our strategy at a corner at one point in the second half. He’s a real leader on the pitch and part of our improvement for sure.

But he can pass it forwards with greater urgency. Seems a bit too keen to dictate the pace of the play by keeping possession rather than finishing teams off.

I was thinking exactly the same. After setting up Kane's goal he went into ultra-cautious mode, repeatedly shunning a relatively simple progressive pass to go back to the 3 CBs - Dier, Davies and Rodon. He also threw himself to the floor a couple of times, conceding possession in dangerous areas rather than winning the free kick he was hoping to get. Not his best game for us (in particular the period between our second goal and them scoring). I have suspected for a while that it is Hojbjerg and Dier's 'on-pitch leadership' that has seen us be ultra cautious once taking a lead (since the West Ham game), and that Mourinho has been happy for this to play out (making him equally complicit).

EDIT - I am a massive fan of Hojbjerg and think he is, along with Kane and Son, leading the Player of the year competition by miles.

I think you’re right about the cautious approach.
Diers diagonal ball out from the back is a very low risk ball
That said, having Ndombele beside him may well be the catalyst for change now.

Tanguys goal was fucking outrageous! Goal of the season right there imo. He was also immense in driving us forward. MotM.

For everyone who ever wished we could combine Dembele with Eriksen...

This is why I want him in CM. Yes, the opposition was lacking, but it’s the first step towards our next works class player (though I fear, especially with his tough start to life, if we get to summer 2023 quit having looked like serious title contenders and won a couple of trophies, that’s the point it’ll become hard to keep him as he’ll have two years remaining on his deal).
