Dele was definitely MOTM.

Obviously Son and Kane very good.

Overall a good first game for Jose, and will have learned quite a bit in the last 15 minutes.

But we played some really slick stuff and the 3-2 scoreline massively flattered them.

Awesome, dominant 60 mins. Naff last 30 or so. Players seem to lose concentration / mentally implode defensively.

Plenty positives. Its a hard game to judge, derby etc. But I thought that was a really good 3 points. Away from home against a horrible away crowd, where they have really struggled.

I was mostly disappointed with the lack of energy the subs brought. Eriksen made a decent pass, but didn't add any impetus. Neither did Sissoko. Early days but I dont imagine Jose was impressed with either.

Dele had a great game, got in loads of great positions. I still think he's half a second off the pace though and also still missing a bit of the intent to his play that he had in his first few seasons.

Gazza: 6 - Could do nothing about the goals. His kicking was really good and effective.
Aurier: 8 - Great defensively and a sublime assist. He needs to keep performing in this way consistently.
Toby: 6.5 - Solid, maybe could have done better for the Antonio goal
Sanchez: 7 - Very good defensively. Cannot lose his man like he did for their second goal though. Also, he often concedes needless fouls which should be avoided.
Davies: 8 - Wonderful performance. Hopefully . the injury isn't too bad.
Dier: 5 - I really want him to get back to playing as he used to in the 2015/16 season. Unfortunately he was too slow in everything he did, lost the ball way too many times even when attempting a simple 5 yard pass. Hopefully he's just lacking games and can get better.
Winks: 6 - Decent. Would have liked to see more risks taken with his passes.
Lucas: 7.5 - I thought he looked much better out on the wing rather than centrally as we have seen previously. Good run for the goal, should . have scored another in the second half though.
Alli: 9 - That's more like it. Found pockets of space between their defence and midfield intelligently and made great use of the ball.
Son: 8.5 - Always a threat. Loves scoring against these lot.
Kane: 8 - Showed great leadership. Could have scored a couple more. Very good game.

why the f is Eriksen substituted in, oh my lord....
stop this madness already, he said he is leaving, stop putting cancer in the team

Once again, we dont have a midfield. Ndombelee and the tenacious Lo Celso as CM pls...i cant bear to see another auto back pass from Winks everytime he receives the ball from the defenders.

Get over the Winks back pass stuff, he went forward a lot today including the pass to Dele that led to the our first goal. There is a basic rule in soccer that you play the way your are facing, especially under pressure. A lot of players ability to turn is set up to where the passing coming to them is played. If played straight at the CM, almost has to play it back. If played slightly to the right or to the left than the player has a chance to turn, play it to the side, etc. By the way, I thought we controlled the midfield very well until the last 20 minutes in which it look like Dier really started to struggle.

Dele over Son but just for me. Thought the first half was some really crisp football for the most part and felt our speed of play was up a notch from previous matches.

Suppose this is true, where are all the protestations among the agreement? This is a humorous enhanced version of Dunning-Kruger where nobody believes they're in the 90%.

That has nothing to do with anything but I found it mildly amusing and I suspect some others will too. :)
You’re new to this site but if your initial postings are much to go by, I’m going to like you.

Delighted.
Game of 2/3rds and a third.
Demonstrated to Mourinho our attacking strengths and defensive weaknesses.
Ceded the midfield and put ourselves under increasing pressure.
But all's well that ends well.
Dele my MOM (8) Son,Moura, Harry K and Harry W played well (7)
Rest OK (ish) Eriksen and Sissoko poor. Dele pissed off to be subbed.
Important win for all concerned and for all sorts of positive reasons.
Win v Olympiacos and Bournemouth next weekend and the Mourinho era well and truly launched.

Playing out from the back totally abandoned (3 Cheers)
Less faffing along the back four. Faster build up. All good.
Mourinho behaving himself, saying and doing all the right things.
Long may it last.

Dele Motm, Sanchez until that last goal.
And there in lies Sanchez weakness. Like Kaboul in the past he always looks like he has one costly error in him every game, unless Jose can coach it out of him, he us young time is on his side

Gazza 6
Aurier 6.5
Sanchez 7
Toby 7
Davies 6
Winks 7
Dier 6.5
Dele 7.5
Moura 6.5
Son 8
Kane 7.5

Sissoko 5
Rose 5
Eriksen 4.5

Mourinho 7 How was he to know 6 or 7 of our players are only 90% match fit? This actually required the changes to take place on the hour....not later. He mentioned 'player exhaustion' so it is clear he now realises that he must guard against that end game situation of five players all needing to come off!

West Ham are on a terrible run and I don't know we can draw many conclusions from this game - this is an 11 (and formation) that MP could have selected and got a similar result.

Dele (motm) and Moura played better than usual - Sissoko and Winks worse. Most played the same.

MP is confident our season now goes massively wrong (classy) and Mourinho talks of winning the league, but the team are the same players and are pretty set in their ways. Many individually peaked a couple of years ago and now collectively have peaked.
The main problem is they just look mentally tired, and I think we would probably have turned the corner and picked up anyway, but we'll need some big money spent to get back to putting in a genuine challenge for the title.

Crap or going through a lack of form phase. I thought he was a beast of a player last season and even at the start of this season, was the only one to appear to be putting in a shift
Without his effort we would not have reached the CL last season, or get 4th spot to qualify for it this season. Some people just love to hate

Gazzaniga: 6 - not much to do, good reflexes to prevent an own goal and should have had an assist

Aurier: 7 - great footwork to get away from players, but kept losing the ball - grew into the game and delivered another peach of a cross. Best game in a while

Alderweireld: 6 - solid, needed to take charge at the end when we were under seige

Sanchez: 6 - would have been a higher mark save for those final 15 minutes - looked gutted to have conceded 2, though - honestly think he’s getting better and better

Davies: 7 - loved his aggression at intercepting a number of their shite passes; looked to play forward quickly. Noticeable how he doesn’t bomb forward compared to Rose and other full backs so his defending needs to improve under Jose

Winks: 6 - thought he struggled a little. perhaps a bit fatigued, I’d look to rest him mid-week

Dier: 7 - grew into the game after a few wayward passes. He’s going to be a new player under Jose (or the old player he was when he was new...)

Lucas: 7 - rating for the goal and work ethos. Lost the ball a lot but kept going. Should have had two goals.

Alli: 8 - mwah

Sonny: 8 - mwah

Kane: 7 - great aggression, looked hungry to score. Could have had a few. Enjoyed his tackle on Snodgrass so much, massive c**t kind of tackle

Subs:
Sissoko: 4 - yeah not great
Eriksen: 4 - :bored:
Rose: not sure he touched the ball?

Once we dropped off, we reverted to type a little. We are far better team on the front foot, which we were doing for first 80 minutes

Which bodes really well, Jose is King at teaching teams how to defend and soak up pressure and shithouse , we could potentially be looking at a team who are more than capable going forward as well as seeing out matches.

Anyone concerned re the last half hour? I thought it would be to do with Jose telling us to drop off amd just control the game which could be the case. I do think we got super nervous and actually the last half hour was pretty shit in all honesty if you look at it.. having said that Spam, two goals flattered them and they didnt create too many chances - but against a better team that could prove costly

Starters all did well. Eriksen and Sissoko were disastrous when they came on. Son and Alli the best performers.
Exactly this. I'm a bit worried about Sanchez - he's can be so good for the most of the game, but still fall asleep for 10 mins which can cost us dearly. Hopefully age and experience will iron this out.
