It could easily been worse earlier in the game if Wolves would've taken advantage of all their fixed situations and been sharper in the final third. We rode our luck in this game, on another day, it could have easily gone our way. Sadly today was not it. It doesn't help that the drop in quality from our ideal starting 11 is quite stark, especially at the back.
Ref let a lot of things go, which was a good change from the usual VAR stop/start action. I thought Son was rather quiet today, I would have expected him to get more involved.
I didn't even complain about the first Wolves goal. It was coming, and it was good.It could easily been worse earlier in the game if Wolves would've taken advantage of all their fixed situations and been sharper in the final third.
I think the yellow card tight rope he was walking was the issue. I think he will be ok now for the next 2 months, before his next suspension!!!Felt Ange got the selection wrong. If Maddison is out then the obvious replacement is Lo Celso. He stepped in for him in the pre season games and did really well.
There was really no excuse for putting out such a midfield devoid of creativity. Once again he was slow to make substitutions. Despite only one shot on goal in the first half he didn’t seem to think taking off Hojbjerg for Lo Celso was worth a try. Very disappointing.
Bissouma’s form is odd. Not been the same player since his red card. We really needed him to dominate the midfield today but for the most part he was pedestrian.
In many ways the exertions of Monday took their toll, mentally and physically, on the team.
Hopefully the international break will reinvigorate both Ange and the players.
