Good god no. Would rather stick with what we have than fork our 12M for him, must be just junk to fill up a newspaper.

I don't mind Meireles.....not as a first teamer, granted, nor as a replacement for Modric, but he's a decent footballer.

He's a good player, not on Modric's level for sure, but better than Hudd, Jenas or Livermore.

lol, this is a good signing by our standards, dont understand why people continue to be so disallusioned about Spur's means in buying and paying the wages of players above our current situation.

no probs, would be happy with Meireles for 6-8 mil,... but 12 mil is way overpriced. kenny sold him from liverpool and their midfield collapsed last season. Meireles was the one he needed keep to partner with hacker adams... but he sold Meireles for peanuts and bought henderson for 20 mil,... genius

No thanks.

He goes missing in games, then reappears running around like a bull in a china shop making stupid fouls. By the standards of a top PL club, his passing and vision are distinctly average.

Plus in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 he's not good enough offensively to play in any of the attacking midfield positions, so he'd be competing with Sandro, Parker and co for the DM spots.

£12 millon, plus signing on and agent fee, plus biggish salary? We can spend that chunk of money, c£20 million total, much better.

I'd take him to add a bit of bite to our midfield, but as an additional squad player, not a replacement for Luka.

I just don't see where he'd fit in alongside Lennon, Bale, VdV, Gylfi, THudd, Sandro, Scotty, GDS, Livermore and potentially Moutinho/M'Vila. And that's working on the assumption that JJ and Bentley are leaving, otherwise there's two more to throw in.
