Realistically think we can challenge for the top four. Think we have an outside chance of challenging higher up should the right situations arise like the Leicester season. All depends on if we address certain weaknesses in the squad and how well we click once the season begins.

Forget all this Challenging stuff for me. The expectation for this club is to win things. That's the whole point of having invested for so long. It's the whole point of hiring Jose. If we come 4th and win nothing, it's a disappointment. If we again don't come 4th and don't win anything, it's a seriously bad year. We need to be back in the Champions League and we need trophies. We have two world class attackers, a solid defence of late, a great goalkeeper, about to sign a holding mid who can support the others. We still need to improve fallbacks. But those are realistic expectations for the club and we shouldn't be settling for less.

Depends on who we sell and bring in and how quickly.

If we have a grade A window and get in RB, CB, DM, AM, ST and do the majority of the key business early I think we could make top 3 and win a trophy.
Grade B window with only 3/5 players signed and some dead wood hanging around and majority of deals done late (after season has started) I think top 4-6 and a semi-final or possibly a final
Grade C window only 2-3 players signed and lots of dead wood left and/or doing lots of deals late then I think top6 will be the maximum and a similar season to the one we just had.

I'm optimistic for a good summer given how pragmatic and detailed Jose is I'm hoping that will dovetail better with Levy getting shit done and quickly.

The problem with this is that spurs don't exist in a vacuum . The teams who finished above us and quite a few below will all justifiably, feel exactly the same.

Which makes it fortunate that we're in four different competitions, have better players than many of those teams, and a world-class manager. There's certainly, for instance, no better team in the Europa League. None of them will be saying "well, Tottenham are around, it's unrealistic to think we're gonna win anything" - and neither should we.

Just put a fairly dirty bet on spurs or Chelsea to finish ahead of United next season. What do people here think? Felt dirty with Chelsea included but "took" it as helped my odds

.........Lloris.........
RB Toby CB LB
Hojbjerg
Ndombele LoCelso
Bergjwin Kane Son

If and it big if we can get those slots sorted at defence i believe that team could win a league title.

I think we can build momentum from the start of the season, if at minimum we have acquired a RB and DM at the start of preseason. Those two spots have caused us the most angst over the past year. Having two new players settled and integrated with the team will be crucial to setting the tempo early. Confidence breeds a winning mentality. Start slow and it can feel like we r playing catch up the rest of the season.
Then if by the end of September we have bought in cover for Kane and a new LB, then I think my expectations would be for us to compete in all competitions... but as per usual with us, it will depend on injuries and mentality of a few key players... (I’m talking to you, Tanguy!).

Honestly, I think we could win the Europa League. But we need more and best players if we want to be top 4 on the PL

Where are we since Mourinho took over? 4th?

Others will strengthen but so will we. They might not be a glamour signing like Werner or Sancho but you can bet your bottom dollar they'll strengthen us as a team.

We've got Harry Kane ffs.

3/4th place finish, and a trophy.

Exactly. Who would you rather have in your team? Werner, Sancho (who I do like) or Kane. Push comes to shove it’s Kane every day of the week. This isn’t fifa, it’s real life and he’s a fabulous goal scorer and match winner. People forget how good he is for some reason.

We don't have any great sign yet. I think, honestly, we're two steps below Liverpool and ManCity and one below Chelsea and ManU. And if Chelsea continues spending money, they'll be at the same level as LFC.
We need to come back to the earth, we don't even have a substitution for HK, and he's susceptible to be injured; and we also haven't decent defense.
We need extra money if we want to be 4th, imo. Otherwise, we'll be struggling for the 5th position with Leicester and the Gunners.

I love the way everyone is assuming that all these players our rivals are buying will hit the ground running, seamless transition with not an issue or problem in sight.

Look they are strengthening but so are we. Lo Celso will probably get even better, Ndombele can't be worse and Bergwign I'm sure has more to offer.

These guys are settling in but they're still relatively new signings. Combine that with Mourinho shaping the squad more to his liking in the coming weeks and I don't think we're miles behind the likes of Chelsea and United. I fully expect us to be competing with those two for 3/4th.

Are Chelsea going to spend enough money to turn Lampard into Klopp?

Lampard needs to show if he's a good manager or he's just another Thierry Henry. There's no point of comparison between them. Yet.
I think Liverpool will downgrade their performance on next season. It's usual that teams who had done an excellent tournament, start experiencing some troubles related to the relaxed atmosphere caused of their achievements this two years (as we experienced this last season, after the UCL final).

So Chelsea will definitely spend money and we definitely won't - gotcha.

Henry absolutely sucked. Lampard nearly got derby out of CL in his 1st season and Chelsea into top 4 in his second. He’s already pissed over Henry.
