Well, hopefully he doesn't read any social media comments from some of his own 'support' base.

I remember redknapp saying once. When a striker is suggesting a confidence issue. You just get them banging loads in in training. Put them up against the worst defender at the club and boost confidence.

Poor lad needs to relax and try to enjoy his game again. Back to the showboating and fun Brazilian.
Maybe that’s why we kept Dier

The club need to get him to see a sports psychologist. He gets too emotional, and it's detrimental to his game.
Believe it’s fine to get ‘too emotional’;

Why are Brazilians so emotional?

This has to do with the cultural mindset. Brazil is a “collectivist” or “relativist” culture. In this type of culture, emotions were conceived as relational to the group. For example, for someone in a collectivist culture, emotion is a thing that exists outside of oneself, and is experienced by everyone.”
Edit. Though I believe his price tag & Conte haven’t helped

I have a song that will cheer him up. He surely likes Katy Perry right?

I missed a goal and I cried it.

Some really shitty comments in this thread tbh. I'll be honest and hold my hands up and say I've made similar in the past but over the last few years as players have started to speak out I've realised I have had no understanding of just how much pressure there is on high profile players in todays game. Years ago you'd go through a rough patch and you'd just have to avoid the tabloids. Now they are reminded of it every time they turn on the TV or look at their phone.

When I see an elite athlete break down like that I know there must be some serious issues going on in their head because the mental strength it takes to get that far is already off the charts. He hasn't started crying just because he hasn't scored a goal.

Great post. The guy is obviously piling pressure on himself and that isn't healthy. I'm pretty sure he will laugh it off once he's around the corner, but he isn't around the corner yet.

I really don't understand "fans" these days. Taking the piss out of someone who is in a good place is fair game. Taking it out on someone who is giving their all and obviously not in a good place is another thing. It's bad if you were doing it to an opposition but to someone in our own tribe? Rant over.

I really hope Spurs are giving every ounce of support - sports psychologists, therapists etc. I think we’ve seen with the Dele episode a stunning lack of effort by the club. I hope they learn from their mistakes. These young lads don’t know the extent of the help they may need, we cannot expect them to always raise their hands.

Thankfully we have a coach now with a high level of emotional intelligence and empathy (see putting Romero’s welfare front and centre on opening day with his head injury). Hopefully he’ll have an arm round his shoulder on his return now.
