Not a bad price, seasoned international, i'm pretty sure he'll do well once he settles in, though there is a part of me that wonders if we should've been looking in his direction if that was the sort of money being talked about.

First of how many though?

Liverpool lad, Liverpool fan, older player, happy to sit on the bench and play when called upon. Bet he's grinning like a Cheshire cat at this move. Easy decision to go 'back home' even if it is as a bit part player. Great story for him, returning to the club that released him at 15 after playing all through the league system and becoming an England international. I wouldn't want him at Spurs though.

I'm pretty sure they old bought him now for the Scouse gush-a-thon in his welcome quotes. "Ma mam was in tears like..." Give it a rest Rickie.

Odd signing imo - can't see how he fits into their system. I suppose not bad as a backup

Likeable story about Rickie tbf. I really like him and yes he is a good transfer for them, definitley. Problem is just it is with the biggest shitters (with Arse) in the league where I can't wish him any goal.

Would he have been a good addition for us at this price?

For me a no. First two striker should be better and with Harry Kane in the third spot we have the younger maybe more talented Ricky in our ranks.

Lambert can definitely play, he isn't a lump like Carroll. Will be useful in their European campaign too, as Crouchy showed the Europeans don't know what to do with a big man (ooh er!) and means they won't have to risk Suarez/Sturridge against the likes of Doncaster in the cups!

I know he can play, but just couldn't see his style suiting their style. I hope he doesn't prove me wrong! :)

Good luck to him. This move seems to mean more to him than money. His scoring record in the league is marginally better than Defoe's, and his assist rate pisses Defoe's. He works a damn site harder for his team too.

Has far more to his game than people give him credit for IMO.

Really good player, shame a big move came for him late into his career.

Shame he has to play for them mugs though.

You watch, if he does well, how long before Sherwood is bleating to the press with his (possibly) soon to be revealed new catchphrase: "He was on my list..."

It's going to happen, you know it, I know it, we just have to wait though :stop:

Kinda glad for him, that he's got his dream move, back to his home club. Fair play.

Although wouldn't call him a seasoned international - he's got 4 games under his wing!!

How's Defoe relevant? He's left now, he's on a different continent. Move the fuck on and at least go back to slagging off one of our current players like real supporters do.

It's an excellent move for him and Liverpool and you have to wonder what the Saints are thinking at that price. How are they going to replace those goals and assists and all round good play with 4.5 million? Even if you only got two more seasons you'd still like that price.

And Rodgers is the one guy who would play Lambert up top with Suarez and Sturridge behind/along side at times. They all work hard, maybe Sturridge a little less, so it would be an option for a 433 or the diamond they sometimes employ.

I reckon Liverpool will enjoy the CL next year and might be well worth watching.

Full kit wanker.

No, in all seriousness it's a great story because he's worked his way back up through all of the professional leagues and ended up playing for England as well. Fair play to the bloke.
