A sad day for all Spurs fans, a legend that will be missed, he’s one of the reasons I started supporting this club in the first place.
R.I.P. Jimmy.

As others have said, never seen him play, but his legend is such that every Spurs fan knows how good he was.

And being indoctrinated with Spurs from my Dad I’ve been reminded many times over the years.

Different players, but when Messi became prominent in the game my Dad said that the way he ran with the ball reminded him a bit of Jimmy.

RIP Jimmy.

Same and just watched a few again including this one

There's obviously far less footage of football from those days so I imagine a lot of his best goals were never filmed, but even in the limited clips we have available you can see that he had some superb technique and was able to craft goals for himself out of nothing - far rarer in an era of crap pitches and more lenient referees that meant a dirty two footed tackle was always just around the corner.

He's long before my time but I imagine there are thousands of Spurs fans that started supporting the club and in turn got their children and grandchildren to support the club because of him. The word legend gets banded around too often these days but RIP to a genuine legend of the game.

The Enigmatic Mr Greaves on YouTube is a fascinating 60s documentary, that I only caught up with this year. Remember so vividly singing Jimmy for England in those days. Jimmy is typically contrary to the media narrative as he so often was

First saw him play on tv in 1963, at my primary school. I was 10 years old. It was England vs Rest of the World and somehow some of us got permission to watch the match on a telly in the Music Room. They say it was his finest game for England. We all went mad when he scored the winning goal in the last minute (my mate John Smith rushed up to kiss his image on the screen and knocked the tv to the floor!).
RIP and God Bless

RIP Jimmy. Thanks for everything.

My dad would go on about Jimmy when it came to greatest players and goalscorers. Never failing to tell me he'd be worth 200m today. He was right.

A true legend of the club.

I didn't get to see him play live, but I grew up watching Saint and Greavsie every Saturday at a time when there wasn't much football on TV. His passion, humour, knowledge and decency shone through every week. That show helped shape my love of the game and therefore had a huge impact on the person I am today. Rest in peace Jimmy.

I think the best description of most of his goals is that he passed the ball into the net, so accurate and composed

An absolute Spurs Legend.

I inherited this signed print that used to hang in my Dad’s office.

Took my dad to the O2 a celebration of the great mans 70th Birthday. He was joined by George Cohen, ‘Big Pat’Jennings, Cliff Jones, Bobby Smith, Martin Peters, Steve Perryman, Peter ‘The Cat’ Bonetti, Ron ‘Chopper’ Harris, Geoff Hurst, Ossie Ardiles & Terry Dyson

One of the very few bits of football memorabilia I’ve bought
