Oh man, how sad. Ray was part of the team when I started supporting Spurs. I have a VHS taken on my 8th birthday when I went to watch them train at Whitewebbs and Ray was training that day. RIP Ray ?

Of course we all love and respect Ray but unfortunately my outstanding memory of him is that " animals of Barcelona " game where he somehow allowed what was little more than a passback slip thru his fingers to give them a 1-1 draw and away was 0-0 so we lost on the away goals rule . at least that is how I remember it after all these years . feel free to correct me if I am wrong .
Sorely missed so long Ray .

Awful news. I wasn’t even aware that we was battling Illness. Rest in peace. Another legend taken too early.

Remember that. So memorable because he was always so reliable, can't think of him making another mistake. Fantastic keeper, lovely bloke.

He like any keeper made a couple of others he had a bit of mare on his debut in the Charity Shield but yes the Barca game is the one I remember - he wasn't a maker of great saves but he did organise a defence and made very few mistakes

Actually, that photo of the Scunny team from 1965 has Clemence, Keegan and Burkinshaw in it:

Edit: my dad corrected me, Clemence left in 67 for Liverpool, Keegan joined S****horpe in 68.

one of the greatest saves I ever saw was against Coventry at WHL in the mid 80s. I was in the Paxton he was at the Park Lane end. Cant remember who hit a shot from around 20-25 yards, but it took a deflection and he somehow shifted in mid air to tip it over the bar.

I also remember the excitement when we bought him from Liverpool.

Fabulous keeper and by all accounts a true gentleman as well. RIP

Terrible news. A great keeper and really gave our defence huge confidence when we signed him from Liverpool. he made some quite stunning saves for us . RIP Ray, you were a true legend. A very sad day.

I sat in my study chair, working on the new game today, and cried as the news broke. Utterly heartbroken. Clem was my first hero.

RIP Ray Clemance

managed to meet him once as a mini cab driver. I went to the swallow hotel in W/A to pick up 4 customers going to Enfield, next thing I know is him sitting in the front seat with a young lady on his lap, and making my fare illegal as I was only meant to carry 4, he paid me very well to take the chance and take him to Broxbourne

I remember that day, unfortunately, we lost 1-0 over there in weather that wasn't fit for football, thick fog
