Paul Robinson: Blackburn keeper out with blood clot in lung
Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson will be out of action for at least six months after developing a blood clot in his lung.
The 33-year-old suffered complications following a back operation, but has now returned home after spending last weekend in hospital.
Robinson, who won 41 England caps, has not played since December and is out of contract at the end of the season.
Fellow keeper Jake Kean is also sidelined because of a knee injury.

Kean was stretchered off against Cardiff on Monday
Poland international Grzegorz Sandomierski, who made his Rovers debut as a substitute against the Championship leaders on Monday, is Blackburn's only available senior keeper ahead of Saturday's crucial trip to Sheffield Wednesday, another side threatened with relegation.
Former Leeds and Tottenham man Robinson joined Blackburn from Spurs in 2008 for £3.5m and has started 172 times for Rovers.
But he fell out of favour while Henning Berg was manager at Ewood Park and his last appearance came in a 4-1 home defeat by Cardiff on 7 December.
West Ham were interested in handing Robinson a return to the Premier League during the January transfer window, but a move did not materialise.
The form of youngster Kean has been one of the rare bright spots in a turbulent second half of the season for Blackburn, who are level on points with third-from-bottom Huddersfield.
However, the 22-year-old was stretchered off in the second half of the 3-0 defeat by Cardiff and scans have confirmed he tore the cartilage in his left knee.
He will miss the final seven matches of the campaign, but is expected to be fit for the start of next season.

Hope he recovers well. Wasn't the best keeper in the world but done a job.

Always remember him bringing his daughter onto the pitch at a match with 36,000 fans singing "Englands no.1" :joyful:

Get well soon Robbo. Not often someone loves the club enough to sign a seven year contract.

I was "fortunate enough"* to get to be Chirpy at a Spurs match, when I worked there, as the usual guy had some other acting gig on that weekend - it was against Bolton, the final home match of the 05/06 season...

I had to wander down the tunnel, to escort the mascots back on and Robbo - thinking I was the usual guy; who it transpired he had a major problem with - punched me full pelt in the arm in front of the other players... who all laughed. The mascots all laughed.

Loved / love him still - what is it with our affinity with keepers at Spurs? I wish him all the best. Top dude.

*Hot sweaty suit, dancing around the edge of the pitch for 45mins before kick off, waving posing with kids etc. Horrible. As far from glamorous as possible.

I was at that game. Was one of my favourite times as a spurs fan singing "we're all going on a European tour" as Robbo booted balls into the crowd whilst some silly twat danced around dressed as Chirpy........oh.
