I have absolutely no doubt we will bid for Ross Barkley......

.... on August 31st.
It's what we will bid that might be the stumbling block an old five pound note, 3 chickens, 2 geese and a months use of the shire horse might not get it over the line, but we remain positive that our beloved leader gets our transfer business done.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

@GreyFox just said in the ITK thread we haven't bid for him as of now, this transfer links really baffling.

We get this every year, we haven't even made a bid yet, I'm sure every year we say the same thing, you always negotiate before you make an official bid, is that not the case.

Much as I rate Barkley.. I'd be much happy if we brought in an additional striker to give us other options other than a huge reliance on Kane banging in the goals and staying fully fit all season.

There's no squad number 8 confirmed today which happens to be his Barkleys number

I think Koemans comments are more a 'come on and get on with it'

Son Janssen Kane seems good to me...we need an Eriksen Lamela Alli understudy/ interchangeable

Levy's playing the usual stupid ass dangerous game. We'll bid low a day or 2 before the window shuts and then when that's laughed at bid a bit more on transfer deadline day in the hope Everton will be super desperate for anything.

To my mind Koeman put his neck in the noose when he said he was 100% certain Barkley would leave the club...how could he have been if as he now says no offers have been made ??. He made that statement to let everyone know the lad was in the shop window and readily available. Levy decided to play the waiting game...knowing Koeman wanted the lad gone he thought he'd leave it until the very last few days (maybe hours) of the window and put in a late low bid. The Everton manager has now strategically backtracked by saying the lad is training positively and may remain with the team which gives Levy the message that the decision to get rid this window is no longer a dead certainty and if he wants him it won't be at some knock down price.

Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive

Levy will never change his modus operandi; every year we hear that "we've learned our lessons" blah blah and yet it's always the same. He is who he is and will countinue too be, no matter what's being said.

This will drag on to the end of the window, Levy will put in a bid that is below their valuation and then it will be a game of brinkmanship during the last few days of the window, a game which Danny may or may not win.

Confused as to why people are surprised we haven't bid when it's clearly been our strategy to wait until much later in the window to get the best possible price.

My understanding is that, even if there hasn't been a bid, there has been progress

It does appear that Everton may have a pre-Sigurdsson buy price for Barkley and once they get Siggy in will no how low they are willing to drop. We obviously are not prepared to meet that current price and Everton know this.
