West Brom's Saido Berahino will be at the centre of a £25million three-way transfer battle on Deadline Day.
Newcastle had a £21m bid turned down on Sunday, Stoke are also in the hunt and Tottenham are set to make a late move before the winter window closes on Monday night.
The Magpies are prepared to go as high as £25m to get their man, while Mark Hughes' Potters are also understood to have made contact with West Brom to launch a bid in excess of £21m.
Berahino, 22, wants to move to Tottenham, and their chairman Daniel Levy will enter the bidding given any encouragement.
West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace has insisted Berahino is not for sale in this window - but the three clubs could be ready to test his resolve with Deadline Day bids.
It sets it up for more last-minute drama surrounding Berahino, who was left frustrated last summer when a move to Spurs collapsed after Peace refused to sell to Levy.
Former England U21s star Berahino threatened not to play for West Brom while Peace was still at the club and - despite relenting on his threat - the ugly saga has overshadowed his performances this season.
Berahino has just 18 months left on his current contract and Albion know his value in the open market will decrease as the deal runs down.
Boss Tony Pulis is understood to be ready to sell, despite the player scoring twice in their FA Cup tie with Peterborough on Saturday.
Pulls is fed up with the drama surrounding Berahino and that is what is giving clubs some belief that West Brom may sell if someone's offer reaches £25m.
Peace’s reluctance to sell Berahino on the cheap stems from his desire to sell the Midlands club.
He put Albion on the market in 2015 and agreed an exclusivity deal to sell a Chinese investment group before it collapsed when the stock market in the Far East crashed.
But Peace remains hopeful of a £150m pay-day and would prefer to have Berahino on the asset list both to make the club more attractive to potential buyers and to add to its capital value.
MirrorSport understands Peace instructed Pulis to hold a meeting with the unsettled striker last week and tell Berahino he would not be sold.
However, £25m-plus in the coffers would also add to Peace’s asking price for any prospective buyers.

Thing is relegation is a real end game for PL teams now a days so surviving is worth spunking money on and spending it on youngish English players is a safe investment as the values could skyrocket if one of them suddenly turns epic.

I can't help thinking that all this action on SB is coming from WBA in order to create the appearance of demand for Berahino and in turn, keep his price high. The media are happy to run with the story as there is no other big news about and they need to make deadline day interesting to sell papers and clicks.
Also, if we do sign Berahino it will no doubt be for an undisclosed fee. This way it makes people assume that the fee was in excess of £21m and helps Peace save face if the deal was at a much lower price.
I expect him to still be at WBA come 11:00 p.m. on 1st Feb.

You would imagine Newcastle will have had some indication from Saido's representatives that he is willing to go there before bidding.

Yeah, and at the very least to indicate that he would join if his first option doesn't end up following through with a bid.
