It seems that Newcastle did indeed make a £21M lump sum offer. If that's indeed the case then we're nowhere near able to compete with that

Of course we're able to compete with that...
Levy just chooses not to, and it probably shows how desperate Newcastle are to get the player.

Personally I don't have an issue with us not moving for him.

Seems that the stance from WBA remains that he wont be sold. Regardless of offer.

Saido has just been shown turning up at the baggies training ground so no change there just yet.

From our balance sheet I don't think we have £20M cash to spend in 1 lump sum. i guess we could engage the famous overdraft facility but I just don't see us dropping that much money in one go. All these other clubs are cash rich due to the to deal but we have absolutely no spare money with a £700M NDP bill coming.

It seems that Newcastle did indeed make a £21M lump sum offer. If that's the case then we're nowhere near able to compete with them financially.

I read yesterday that we've only ever made 1 non-installments purchase, and that was the condition of Dembele's release clause (and we were flush with the Modric cash).

£21m in cash is probably the cost of the kop stand in the new stadium!

That was 5 months ago. We've moved on a lot since then.

- Son and Lamela have been excellent
- Poch trolled him by calling him Osvaldo mk2
- Our #1 target has been Dembele, a proper Kane-lite style CF

He's just a recent Leandro, Moutinho, Rodriguez, Kenwyne Jones, Michael Ricketts etc.
Son and Lamela's form has not diminished our need for another forward and quite clearly Pochettino still covets Berahino - just not at all costs. Justifiably he has concerns over his temperament but that's not the deal breaker here.

What we have been hearing all morning is that Berahino is not for sale, and as a result, Spurs will not bid. If West Brom’s stance softens throughout the day, that could change. There is no panic here if no business is done today.

The last 8 years prove we won't suddenly whopp 25 mill cash up front for anyone! No chance whatsoever

How do you come to that conclusion? He quite publically criticised his attitude and behaviour in an interview a week or two ago

And we've made no move for him all window

Poch got cold feet and we moved on a long time ago

He just as easily could have been referring to Osvaldo.....

He was - he called out Berahino by saying he'd learnt lessons from Osvaldo and wouldn't sign anyone who wasn't fully professional or who would upset delicate squad harmony.

Paul Gilmour is our man at Tottenham today and he is chasing their interest in Saido Berahino.

Sky sources understand the club will not be making a bid, unless West Brom change their 'not for sale' stance.

You have access to our finances?

Well if you take a look at our last published finances in 2015, add in the redesign of the stadium to incorporate the NFL, the technology for which has seen costs spiral - the whole NDP project now estimated to cost over £700M - and show me where the spare £20M to spend in a lump sum on a player is, I'll be happy to stand corrected.
