I suspect that is the case but you can get someone else to download the app and use your reference number and password to get in. It won't work for touting obviously but would work for friends and family.
Pretty sure you can't. That's on the Tottenham app which was being used pre-Covid. Now it's done through Google/Apple Pay which is much more complicated.

My bad - I misunderstood the whole thing. To be honest i dont know what is going on - im just assuming when things lift that we will be able to pass tickets on etc a bit like before.

Lots of bits here...

I went to the Villa game. I have an iPhone. I first used the google app which produced a screen ticket. I did a screen grab of it as an experiment to see if it would give me access like at an airport does for a boarding pass where I often use the screen grab for simplicity. it didn't work. I also downloaded a ticket direct to the iPhone wallet and that did work after I had tried to use the google one above first. Reason for the google grab was then it would be easy to pass this on to others - send it etc. Next time I'm going to try that with the apple wallet version and see if an apple wallet screen grab will work.

Secondly my father in law is getting on a bit. He doesn't have a smart phone nor a printer at home, so he couldn't/wouldn't be able to do this anyway. He gets to the ground late whilst I'm usually already in there. I still don't know how he is going to be able to get in. At 88 years old the concept of emails is difficult for him and I have to try and talk him through it every time he uses it remotely. His health is also a bit questionable and sometimes at the last minute he may decide he cannot go. We obviously don't want the seat to be there empty. I also have 2 ST's and my 2 sons share one of them, so rather than it go empty I sometimes have used it whilst both sons use the others. I understand the idea of me getting in on the cheap is probably wrong and we'd be willing to pay the difference to upgrade it for any given match - but this must be done at a very late stage, and certainly not 48 hours before a fixture. All the above has just ballsed up everything really. I have sent an email care of Ian Murphy as suggested earlier in this thread but haven't received a reply yet. It will all probably come out in the wash but well see.

All this just adds to my frustrations about being a football supporter. And after all I do not need to do any of this if I am going to the cinema, theatre or concert. All in the name of safety - meh.

One of the reasons I gave up my old ST was because they are talking about needing to verify it's you with picture ID.

From what I've seen the only way to transfer your ST to another person is on a per game basis via ticket share with people in your network (or permanently via the amnesty which is what I'm trying to do at the moment).

Certainly feels like they are getting more serious about the need for you to prove it's YOUR ticket but time will tell if it works and they follow through with it all.

Personally I hope they do go down the photo route for away games in particular. It's very, very annoying that people can buy them all up, sell on or give to whoever, and then claim the loyalty points to get into the big games or cup finals ahead of people who actually try and go as much as they can (including home games on Thursday nights against crap opposition etc).

How would that work for away games? I'm assuming Spurs can only check and confirm you are who you say you are for home games - expecting Everton officials to do so or whatever seems unlikely?

I wouldn't miss the touts if it got rid of them hugely but I do wonder how all this extra complexity affects some of our older less tech-savvy fans.

We normally send out own stewards along, they could just do spot-checks in the queue. Don't have to get everyone every time, won't take long for the persistent offenders to get caught out.

Ah OK, never been to an away game - something I need to rectify!

Persistent being the word here. Same as my earlier point - "oh I couldn't make it at the last minute and just gave it to someone".

And I bet Away fans at our ground are just issued with paper tickets.

I read someone had a paper ticket issued for the Villa game, but that was a one off game , not sure what they’ll do for the whole season??‍♀️
Interesting as I am a season ticket holder and my phone does not support NFC. Hope I don't have to queue at the ticket office to prove my ID every match.....

Me too but we’ve zero chance of getting an away ticket because of people abusing the system and selling their tickets on. They need to crack down on it.

The old system is/was immensely frustrating. I had enough LPs to comfortably get a ticket to Madrid, the following season I applied for EVERY away game (league and cup) and didn’t get close once. It’s a closed shop with the same guys buying and circulating paper tickets.

Soon they will have 80% of fans on exactly the same LPs. Getting to go to a final will be determined on if you went to one more Conference League home matches rather than genuine away attendance. Likely we’ll all just buy the home cup games and not bother going for the above reasons.

Some loon on here was arguing with me the other day, claiming that it's simpler than it's ever been. Bizarre!

Screenshots won't work. If it was that easy anyone would be able to do it and theoretically replicate and resell a ticket multiple times.

I currently share ST with my dad but it's in my name. With this ID process will there be issues on games my dad goes?
