Roma and Tottenham Hotspur tracking Bulgarian midfielder


Tottenham Hotspur and Roma are thought to be tracking Litex Lovech midfielder Simeon Slavchev.
The 20-year-old midfielder was recently named in Bulgaria’s squad for World Cup qualifiers after outstanding performances for The Oranges

According to Tuttomercatoweb.com and Tuttosport, Spurs and Giallorossi are reportedly considering making bids of €4 million for the midfielder.

Slavchev is also being tracked by Hellas Verona and Serie B side Spezia after making 17 appearances for Litex and bagging 10 goals so far this season.

Very difficult to assess the true quality of players from YouTube clips but he looks like he could be what we're missing in midfield. Seems to occupy deep positions and keep play ticking over, has good technique and range of passing, is strong in the tackle and has an eye for a through ball. Looks a real prospect and coming from Bulgaria he shouldn't cost much.

I'd prefer a more experienced player who can step right in and make a difference as I personally think that a quality DLP would go a long way toward fixing what is wrong with our attack. That being said, if Baldini thinks he could be the next Pjanic and the money saved goes toward a top young striker then I'm all for it.

11 goals and 3 assists in 21 matches so far in the Bulgarian league, placing him 4th in both overall points and goals. All this as a deep lying midfielder (though he has had some time at winger it appears) and at the age of 20.

Aston Villa is the latest team to show interest in Bulgaria's energetic midfielder Simeon Slavchev, who has been dubbed the ‘Bulgarian Lampard’.

As they broke the news, British media compared the 20-year-old Bulgarian to England and Chelsea star Frank Lampard as he loves to press forward and support his attack at Litex Lovech.

Slavchev has been successful in causing mayhem in the opposition penalty area this term he has scored 14 goals in 22 appearances for his club this season.

Earlier this month it emerged that Russia's Zenit St. Petersburg is ready to pay EUR 4 M in January to sign the talented young Litex Lovech player.

The news came on the heels of reports that Roma and Tottenham are also interested in Slavchev, and that their representatives have gotten in touch with Litex for negotiations.

The sum that Zenit is ready to pay exceeds Roma and Tottenham's bids by about EUR 1 M.

Despite the increasing transfer talks, the player's agent is firm that he is committed to his current club and will complete the season in Bulgaria.
