The board have actually made a profit since Ramos has been in charge - Is the board really backing the manager?

In the last 2 windows with Ramos in charge we have seen a whole team bought and a whole team sold

As stated in another thread, nothing wrong with making a profit, well done!

But I bet you want a spanking new stadium which holds 60k, and I bet you are going to want us to spend another 30k in Jan, where is that money going to come from? What about the millions we spent in the last 5 years? 11mil on Rebrov? 5mil on Ben Thatcher? shall I keep going???

he made a profit while buying great players for the team so well done
why do some people on this site seem to get the idea we had a bad window just because we didnt sign someone big on the last day. remember we signed modric, dos santos, gomes, bently all early so we didnt need the last min signings

As p!issed off as I am at the moment, when you look at it purely in those terms the team and definately the squad has been improved at a profit. The only player I would want to have from the Outs is Berbafuckov in place of Campbell. That wasn't an option that the powers that be had.

Every one agrees that we would prefer to be successful on the pitch rather than on the bottom line of the bank balance but equally I don't want us to do a Leeds. Finding a middle ground which meant that we had a top DM would have been nice but there aren't that many of them around, and even less that would come to us.

lets see...i quite like the current stadium and dont think we need to spend zillions in Jan. Rebrov and Thatcher? Those financial hits have already been taken.
We are still without a true leader on the pitch and we've just taken our two ferraris to the local car dealer and come home with an Audi A8 and someone else's kitcar so please forgive me for not being enamoured with our Chairman's latest financial manoeuverings.

I don't care about the money as long as they players we brought in are better and the team does better.

I agree, imagine if we hadn't made early purchases and yesterday still had all and sundry on our books. We'd have been screaming out for the 'deadwood' to be gone and for us to sign exciting players like Modric, Dos Santos etc - had that happened last minute we'd probably be quite satisified. In the end though, as fans, we were victims of our own success. We saw the great progress early on and it appeared to be sky's the limit! When sky wasn't the limit we're no longer happy! In conclusion, bloody good window!

One of the most sensible posts i've read today. Like many i felt sick when i saw the picture of Berbatov holding the Man U shirt but realistically we all knew it was coming, I think there will be a massive change of heart experienced by many on here when the likes of Pav, Modric and Dos Santos get into the groove of premiership football.

Thats balls, we are still one of the most profitable clubs arounds, with a high turnover.

We could afford those players, just like we could have afforded to spend another 30 million this window on Arshavin and Veloso.

The team has improved massively in areas and we've made a slight profit. Is there anything wrong with that? Sounds great to me.

But Veloso didnt want to come... And Zenit by the looks of things are the most difficult team to deal with which is why Arshavin hasnt signed for anyone.

Just because you have money doesnt mean you can buy whoever you want...

How has the squad improved at a profit. Yes, defence and midfield are slightly better but we've sold a 40+ goal a season striker partnership.

People say it's great we got rid of the deadwood. To me Steed, Kaboul and Chimbonda are far from what anyone should be calling deadwood. They were good squad players to have. I still see lots of deadwood in Dawson, KPB, Ghaly and Rocha still being here. They should've been either sold or just released on a free.

This rebuilding of the entire squad every other summer is a joke. Continuity of staff and players is what we should have and not rebuilding the squad every other summer, and then when they finally acclimatise to each other and form an understanding we sell them off again. It might be a good business plan but a horrible sporting one.

So you're saying we should have stuck with what we had?

On paper the team has improved ever so slightly but on the pitch we have yet to see any improvement, thankfully it is early days.

we drew at the Bridge on sunday - since then we've added pav campbell corluka

I remain convinced that besides the Berba effect JR had the players to do better in the first two games but bungled his selections

Sun showed with good management (and JR was MOTM on sun) we have a squad to finish top 10 and win a trophy - we'll need a lorra lorra luck - but hey let's help the team make that luuck

Just remember when Arsenal sold Anelka, Petit and Overmars for massive fees and spent relatively small money buying Henry, Pires, Gilberto, laying the foundations for the invincibles side... Making a profit, doesn't mean you can't build a great team.

However saying all that I still feel we are a striker light, I'm sure we will get someone else in January, probably Arshavin.
