Great result, aspecially as I have Kane and Son in FPL, but to be honest we scored purely because of Soton's high line and I'm afraid we will still struggle against teams who park a bus with us, i.e. most of the league

Well that is what we’ve been waiting for to see, scintillating and devastating 5 goals 2nd half.

That 2nd half showed exactly what Jose is trying to do, his teams have always had a strong defensive base and world class attacking players to play on fast transitions and counter attacks.

At Chelsea he had : Duff, Drogba, Robben
At Madrid he had : Ronaldo, Benzema, Di Maria

Jose now has : Son, Kane, Bale

It took Klopp 3 seasons to properly overhaul the Liverpool squad and even just finish above us, Jose had had half a season picking a squad up mid-season with tons of issues and injuries.
We are now seeing with the players he’s brought in to suit the way he wants us to play that it can be devastatingly effective. Let’s not lie, the first half was very poor even though we had the ball in the net twice and their high line played into our hands but ultimately we won 5-2 and it could’ve been 7/8-2 on another day.

There will still be bumps in the road but the next steps are now:
- More signings to keep rebuilding the squad the way Jose wants it, if that means sacrificing Dele so we can play a fast 4-3-3 and bring in a CB, CM and ST then so be it
- Time, time for the signings to bed in, time for the new team to get used to the tactics and time to let the players build confidence and belief together with more wins and performances like that

I think that 2nd half could be a real turning point under Jose and add to this Bale, Regulion and possibly / hopefully others coming into the team it’s actually quite scary how good our squad could be.

Also fair play to Jose with yet another set of good substitutes and good use of squad management.

COYS.

“These tactics won’t work against every team” isn’t the bombshell newsflash you think it is

Just noticed lamela checking Walker peters run to get closer to son for the third. Not saying kwp would have got back but still nice to see lamela being himself

If southampton are one of the tougher games then what are the weaker opposition?
Saints away is tough but it was their high line that cost them today. There's a lot of tough opponents now in this league so it's important Ndombele offers more. Still hope for him though.

I've got massive mixed feelings about this match, delighted we won obviously, not happy about the lack of control on the pitch especially in the first half, terrified about our defence, Doherty seemingly cannot play in a back 4 and our midfield was painful to watch until Gio came on, Hobjberg doesn't seem to be the answer, I don't think he's mobile enough and Ndombele can only play 25 mins without getting tired, I am absolutely salivating at the thought of Bale coming into this team in the front 3 because we will be absolutely lethal on the counter but Jesus we have some work to do at the back, mental.

Kane’s assists today show that he can clearly play as a type of 10. If we had Bale, Son and Kane all rotating in their positions it will be a real headache for most teams, provided we sort the midfield out as that still needs a lot of work so we have some control of the games. It’s early days for Hojbjerg but I’m not sure. We maybe should have gone for Ndidi if Leicester needed to sell to buy as Rogers suggested with Chilwell. GLC is crucial to getting our midfield going. I’d take £40m for Winks all day but I don’t see any team at his level spending that on him.

Man City were genuinely interested in Winks a few months ago, Pep does like him.

No, he beat Arsenal 6-0 at least once. It's a false stat that appear in the doc

edit: quick look shows that was 2013/14 - in 05/06 he bear Bolton 5-1, in 14/15 he beat everton 6-3, swansea 5-0

Never did it was Utd though

I can’t believe Amazon lied to me.

The uproar from some at jose for taking of ndom. Seemed he knew what he was doing and we finally got a gamplan from him. Take advantage of their high line.

This will be controversial but I mean it with all due respect. I think your point is bullshit.

Kane and Son turned that game. Bringing on Lo Celso wasn't some game changing master stroke. He's a player who everyone on this forum would have as a nailed on starter. Southampton got tired, got sloppy and our two world class forwards ripped them to pieces for it.

Now Lo Celso may have been a giant part of that but the fact is we already tore them open before with the service coming from N'dombele in the middle of the park.

Winks was shite all game again and I'm not sure why he stayed on.

Fantastic turn around.

Credit to Jose and the team.

I think getting the players up closer to Kane, especially Lo Celso changed the game.

I agree but I’m uncertain we win that game without scoring right before half time. That goal was so important.
