This is awsome thanks for the updates.

Just seen Young Boys, I remember a Harry.R interview saying Clive Allen had been to watch them and told Harry how bad they were and that we’d be fine and then we turn up on the artificial pitch and are 3-0 down after 30 mins and he and Joe Jordan are turning to Clive Allen like I thought you said they were shit ?? can’t see Jose being quite that casual with his approach in European qualifiers. Oh Arry ey.

So who might we actually be drawn against and when will we know?
No worries!

The draw for the round we enter is on the 31st of August. At some point before then, we'll be allocated to a "group" which will limit the options we can draw to between 5 and 7 different teams. We don't yet know who exactly it'll be possible to draw because it obviously depends on who wins in this round. These would probably be the highest-profile options, although the first four would all have a good chance of moving to the Seeded section depending on how many upsets there are in the first round:

Aarhus
Aris Thessaloniki
OFI Heraklion
Servette
CSKA Sofia

And in terms of UK and Irish opposition, the potential options are:

Motherwell
Lincoln Red Imps
Shamrock Rovers
Coleraine
Glentoran
Bohemians
Bala Town

In total however, there will be 37 different teams we can draw, so the odds are it will be somebody low-profile from Eastern Europe.

The actual draw is on Monday, but UEFA pre-draw the Second Qualifying Round, usually into groups of 5 seeded and 5 non-seeded the night before. So on Sunday evening we should know which 5 teams we could possibly play in 2nd qualifying. Then on Tuesday we will know our possible opponents for 3rd qualifying.

Limbersky scores for Plzen today. There’s a blast from the past when Arnesen was signing everyone and their brother. Great times.

Celtic drop down to Europa League qualifying with the loss to Ferencvárosi of Hungary.
Media big Celtic etc up way to much, Chris Sutton saying a few months ago they would be Top 4 in PL, what a joke. Not even surprised they were beaten, lost to Cluj last year, and knocked out of the Europa League with relative ease by Copenhagen this one.
Mid-table championship at best with there current players.

If things go according to co-efficients. The Group Stage Pots would like

Pot 1 Arsenal, Tottenham, Roma, Napoli, Leverkusen, Basel, Villareal, Besiktas, Sporting Lisbon, CSKA Moscow, Copenhagen, Sporting Braga
Pot 2 Gent, PSV, Wolfsburg, Krasnodar, Vik Plzen, Celtic, Sparta Prague, Astana, APOEL Young Boys, Ludogorets, BATE
Pot 3 Galatasaray, Red Star, Leicester, Rapid Vienna, Qarabag, PAOK, Malmo, Socieded, Parizan,, AZ67, Feyenoord, Legia
Pot 4 Maccabi, Molde, Hoffenheim, Midtjylland, Sherriff, Zorya, Cluj, Lille, Nice, Antwerp, Sivvaspor, Wolfsberger

The coefficients would have Benfica, Dinamo Kiev, Salzburg, Olympiakos, Zagreb and Slavia reaching CL, but any of them could drop into EL
Co-efficients would also have teams like AC Milan, Rangers and Granada missing out (all teams we technically could meet in Play Off Round and would likely be Pot 3 teams)

Obviously this is very unlikely to be the final qualified teams, but gives a flavour of what we will be facing. Quite a few teams in Pot 3and even Top 5 league teams in Pot 4 that could make things tricky, although Pot 2 does seem quite weak (in fact weaker in general than Pot 3 I would say, especially if Milan get there)

And then after group stage co-efficients would say Ajax, Leipzig, Inter, Lazio, Atalanta, Dinamo Kiev, Salzburg and Olympiakos would join at last 32 stage.

Agreed. Pot 2 is mostly full of sides who qualify for the UCL through their league every year, make it to the group stage of that or the EL, and therefore accumulate enough points to keep getting in Pot 2 just be being consistently mediocre. The teams from bigger leagues who don't qualify as often are much more dangerous. But on the whole, we shouldn't have any issue getting through the group, and should be expecting to win it comfortably barring a nightmare draw (e.g. PSV, AC Milan, Hoffenheim)

While I did suggest Ferencavaros were a better team than many though, them beating Celtic is certainly a big upset! In other notable results, Omonia pulled off a shock to win in Poland against Legia Warsaw, Dynamo Brest continued their dream run with victory over Sarajevo, and in the high-profile tie of the round featuring nations with no love lost between them PAOK eliminated Besiktas. The third qualifying round draw now follows on Monday:

Looks like there will be a small chance we won't need to play 2nd qualifying round.
A first qualifying round game in Estonia got postponed today as players from both sides had Covid, and both sides need to isolate.
Likely UEFA will kick them both out, meaning one of the 36 seeded teams in 2nd qualifying will get a bye (unfortunately will be random, not given to the team with the best coefficient)

I watched their game as they were the last team in my accumulator, Celtic were akin to a Rymans league side...all over the place.

Because there's so long until the Second Qualifying Round, I expect they'll have a go at playing the match during the upcoming international break.

Coleraine are in with a chance of pulling off a big, big upset - they're 1-1 away to Maribor in extra time. Live on the BBC Sport website for anyone interested

Went 2-0 down early in the first leg meaning we needed 4. Despite that it was an electric atmosphere, especially when we did get a couple back. Was an exciting side that!

Yep I was there. Great side.
