Tottenham are planning a multi-million-pound upgrade of their retractable pitch just three years after opening their new £1billion home. The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the only purpose-built NFL ground outside America, with a state-of-the-art grass surface in three sections rolling back to reveal an artificial pitch used for NFL games, such as tomorrow’s clash between New York Giants and Green Bay Packers.

"The process [changing pitches] takes 48 hours, leaving little margin for error this week, as Tottenham and Eintracht Frankfurt's players are due to train at the stadium on Tuesday".

I reckon changing to the NFL pitch is the longer process, as all the rails have to covered and surface velcroed back together and the crumbs brushed level and the markings repainted.

Changing back to the real pitch surely wouldn't take more than a day including mowing and patching any gaps in the joins.

I think our surface is pretty good but artificial surfaces probably have moved on. However the mail :( reckons it is the retractable pitch that is being upgraded. So who knows?

There had to be a pitch inspection before today's NFL game due to an issue with the seams and a little dip where the seams join. Don't know if any such improvement is related though
