We go for so many players who are 'technically' gifted but end up being crap in practice.

Höjbjerg?

That was my sole pick but I don't think it's unequivocal and from match threads you'd think we should recind his contract. He was also one of the cheapest so you'd hope as a starter he'd earn his fee. Who else, though?

Our record for transfers has been shocking for at least a decade, with a small handful of players getting us huge fees to cover for the litany of expensive flops.

Name one player signed in the last three years that we'd unequivocally pay the same fee for again with hindsight.
Højbjerg €16m I think most of us would sign him again for that price.

I dont think either that signing Reguilon for €30m was bad either.

Not another player from the french league.

The only good player we signed from the french league was Lloris, the rest were garbage

Moura, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Aurier. I believe the French and German leagues are flush with talented players at respectable prices we just need better scouting. I find the Portuguese and Spanish league players over priced [ as with the English leagues] hardly anyone buys from the Italian leagues.

Bottom line regardless of the league we need to buy the best fits to move the club forward otherwise you end up spending more to rectify.
