Tottenham Hotspur are set to appoint a new 'head of emerging talent' in Chris Perkins. Perkins made a name for himself during his five years as head of academy recruitment at Derby, with a high percentage of first team players coming through the club's youth set-up.
He finally made the move in 2020 to take on a similar role at Everton, but Tottenham have been restructuring their off-the-pitch staff at the club and see Perkins as a key man for the future of their academy.

I heard that he can look at a woman and know if she will give birth to a future footballing star.

Why are folk upset by this? Can they point to anything specific he has achieved? People come and go all the time. It’s the structure that matters. Yes. I know. However, H88 was praising the work FP has done behind the scenes recently so maybe this is related. Hardly a suicidal thoughts issue tho.

Given that Paratici is likely to depart soon - it's a little worrisome that some of his "structure" is also leaving. That puts Spurs in a tough spot having to potentially rebuild structure again.

I wouldn't say anyone is "upset" but considering the state of our academy over the past several years, I'd say that a reportedly decent and relatively new acquisition leaving already, is hardly creating the stability we need.

Our academy needs an overhaul but this bloke's only been here a couple of years, so probably not one we should be losing.

@everyone - read H88’s post re: FP work behind the scenes. Also. While it would be a blow to lose FP, that is not a thing yet, nor may it become one. We could also find someone to continue his work tho? Just a thought as it is unlikely you would rip it up and start over if he has put the foundations in. Finally. Everyone throwing a wobbly over the slightest fucking thing. All the time. It’s so fucking boring.

Literally a handful of posts in this thread of people expressing surprise and disappointment about what's going on behind the scenes. This reaction just isn't what you're making it out to be.

The only person in this thread "throwing a wobbly" is you.

What I've seen consistently over the last few years is posters and this is a prime example of the type of post is to dismiss concerns as nothing more than people being overly emotional and I hate it because it's a clear tactic people use when they want to discredit feelings different from there's. If you have a point to counter then counter the point but don't try and make out that the problem is people's emotional volatility when the very reason that people react disproportionality to things emotionally is because their concerns have been dismissed over and over again in this manner, when there is valid reason for those concerns.

Quite clearly this particular situation in isolation is not a massive issue, yet to ignore it entirely ignores the context of which the club has been in which is showing consistently in that it's infrastructure has no alignment, that our leadership is not clear of what it actually desires. People might be sick of hearing that but quite clearly people are conversely sick of the very clear evidence of it being true being dismissed as handwringing. Perhaps if people actually acknowledged sooner that people's feelings and frustrations were justified before then it wouldn't be as all encompassing as it is on the forums now that things can finally no longer be swept under the rug.
