For a change of discussion, who would you guys like to see go out on loan this year and ideally where? Personally i'd love milos to go to villa if the ade deal falls through as tim knows his qualities and i'm pretty sure he'd get game time. Other loans i'd like to see that i dont think are too unrealistic:

Oduwa - Feyenoord or other decent eredivisie team, if not top half championship (if he's not gonna get game time here)
CCV - championship loan, the sooner he can be blooded in with competitive football the better.
Ogilvie - after a difficult season last year i think a league one or lower championship team could be great for him, somwhere like swindon or mk dons.

Agree with your picks.
Ogilvie is a good one. I like the idea of bringing up Muscatt to under 21 & compete with Walkes for Left back. Brown can have the Lb spot at under 18. I think this means we would help these four players develop, although i'm not saying they are all going to have a future with us.
I like the idea of Kyle Walker-Peters going on loan, think he needs to be given an introduction to the physical game, see how he copes with it. Also like the idea of Azzaoui on loan for the same reasons.

mcgee should go on loan too, gets him 1st team experience but also frees up glover to play u21s.

Mcgee is our third choice keep and possibly second choice saaturday so he wont be going anywhere, I think he is really highly rated as he as been part of the first team squad for a while.

This coming season will see him in the Academy Year 1 and Spurs u18's team where he will be pretty closely watched, previously Spurs fans will have seen small amounts of him in u16's (which technically the club does not allow us to watch) and tournaments - but not enough to really make an informed opinion.

But he's certainly building up a reputation given he usually plays as a CM !

I saw the clip of THAT goal when he was playing CB and just went through everyone. So i'm pretty sure a step up in quality will be a very welcome challenge and it will be interesting to see how he develops...

I'm hoping it isn't just his physical attributes that really allow him to dominate. But the clips I have seen don't point to that.

If I have my calculations correct, 6 of the 9 HG in the squad are club trained. 6!!!!! Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! Love our academy.

Interesting to see no squad numbers for veljkovic or oduwa. Maybe both close to a loan move?

Yup 6 club trained, Rose, Townsend, Mason, Kane, Carroll, Pritchard, with Bentaleb still counted as an u21 !

6 club trained of the full HG's and 4 of the 6 u21's are club trained as well. If none leave or go out on loan, 10 of our 15 HG players are club trained. That's incredible and huge plaudits have to go to McDermott, Inglethorpe, Sherwood(yes, even him, somehow) and co.

Whilst its right to get excited about our young teams its probably wise to reflect that Chelsea have probably the strongest youth set up in the country - how they bring players through maybe questionable but they still have a very strong youth presence - for instance we would die to have the forwards they have. Currently they have probably the best 4 under 19 strikers in the country in their ranks , granted they signed two of them for relatively big money (and three of them are out on loan) but even if we are able to offer great facilities and a path to the first team the lure of the big bucks is still very much out there
Im struggling to think of who these four strikers are, Abraham isn't one of them imo. He needs his strength and size to do well and is similar to loft imo. A player who scores a lot of goals in one go but neither is one of the best imo

Clearly Solanke is but the other two I am unsure

As for the lure of big bucks, even with their great academy you only have to look at Brown to see why you shouldn't for a big club and I would even suggest our academy to a certain extent. Here you a 16 year old playing his first game for West brom and instead signs for a big club and has only made one english appearance since that. Had he stayed he probably been eased in the premier league football already and been earning more than he is now.

I heard some details about that particular deal and the agent told them to not to sign for chelsea but the parents took the quick buck.

The loans abroad are interesting for Solanke and Brown, in one sense Im disappointed. Brown imo was really using his size too much and shouldn't of been playing youth football as he was above that level already but he did. Now that he has gone to vitesse and its not exactly worked out well for Chelsea in the past:
Sam hutchinson - didn't play and then went sheffield and got released
Cuevas - didn't play and then went down a division
Kakuta - went to Lazio didn't play
Kalas - went to koln didn't play
Van Aanholt - went to sunderland season after
Atsu - went to everton - didn't play
Piazon - went to Frankfurt and wasn't a huge success
Traore - went back again
McEachran - released
Wallace - gone to carpi

Now english players are known to struggle to adapt abroad and the netherlands is a tough place to move to for a young english player and they sent 5 players this time, so will they play all 5 especially considering all of them are midfielders and one striker

3 youngsters get first team squad numbers - McGee, Onomah and Winks.

Alli, Pritchard and Caroll get first team numbers s well - but I think we knew that !

I don't know why Veljkovic can't get a chance in our pre-season.
Think it's to do with his style of play. Veljkovic is an excellent reader of the game, but he really likes to just let them game come to him and play off that, whereas I think Poch wants very proactive players like Mason, Bentaleb, and Winks who try and go get it and have a more "busy body" play style.

This may well be the case.

However, Dier in CM has also been jockeying opponents rather than pressing to try to win the ball.

I hope Veljkovic gets a loan where he's a first team regular and has better luck with injuries this time round.

I wonder if we'll specify what position he should play. If our speculation is correct, it may be best for him to play as a CB, where his reading of the game will still be important and where he may have more of a future in Poch's system.

They aren't anywhere near as committed in my opinion. It's much harder for them to actually do it because of the pressure to win the league.

I maintain that as time goes on and more of these kids are shown to have made unwise choices, unless City and Chelsea's approaches change, we'll become a standout option for those who want to make it.

To be honest, I don't want to sign kids who only care about making some money. We want the ones who want to make it. Chelsea and City can have the kids who only care about flashing the cash. No problem.

Honestly if that's what you may want to believe its just not true though. I don't care about City or least of all Chelsea but they have a commitment to youth football and are the top dogs at the moment. They will continue through their financia

The four I refer to are Abraham -anyone who saw the hat trick he got against us last season would have had to been impressed the header he scored was a fantastic goal and lives clearly in my memory as a real old fashioned centre forwards goal the comparison with Loft is very flattering for our lad imo- obviously I agree his physique is a massive asset and as well he played in that game he was poor against us in the first leg of the semi but I like what I have seen of him

Bamford (slightly older) Brown and Solanke would be the others - of that loan list I disagree about Piazon I think there is a really interesting player in there and I thought he did alright for Frankfurt who were keen to sign him but I could be mistaken. Though otherwise I totally agree about the loans and that's why when I see Oduwa linked to a Dutch loan I am little concerned

Otherwise as I say I am no apologist for Chelsea but they have had strong youth teams though how that's integrated into the first team opportunity is a difficult question especially when the coach they have is so negative and risk aversive, but I think its foolhardy to think that they won't succeed to bring players through at some stage such are their resources. Perhaps though I am a bit of romantic and I hope / think that boys at u18 are all committed and the money is secondary to the glory
