I was really happy with what we tried to do, some of the moves we put together and. of course the win. I really like Nuno's attitude too. Post match our SpursTV interviewer said we were outstanding today and Nuno immediately said:

"No, not outstanding, we are in a process, we are trying to improve, today we got better but we're not yet what we expect and what we have the ambition to be. A good team a compact team, solid, creating offensive chances that have to be finalised, finished well..." I love this and it gives me massive confidence for the season.

Also had a look at arsenal mania to see how they saw the game, and in the main they are really unhappy with their manager and style of play and are bricking it because they have a game against a hungry and lively Brentford in just five days and they looked far from ready today.

Yep midfield was all at sea in first half, Skipp to be fair was working hard and covering a lot of ground, PEH and Dele were pretty ineffective. Second half midfield looked a lot better with Gio showing the benefits of being able to receive and move the ball, Skipp improved and Dele had a few moments but just can’t retain possession under any pressure. Still big improvement from Chelsea, against City we will be under pump if we can’t retain ball and that for me means can’t afford to have Dele start.

For me this is looking too much at ourselves , at the expense of looking at the oppo . Chelsea's press was full on . Impressive for a friendly . Arse left us acres to play the ball . The 'improvement' for me is to do with the opposition .

Reverse the 2 fixtures and you would have seen a deterioration imo .

On the gen subject of the Arse I was thinking they've never really got their heads around the modern concept of the press and so its been years in the wilderness and hopefully many more to come..

Tanganga fought for it near corner flag and won it, drove towards penalty area, holding off their defender, Gio took over, Tangnga ran forward and Gio threaded short pass through to him. Tanganga then out-muscled their defender and cut it back for Sonny to slot in.
Tanganga did a great job but the defending from the arsenal defender there was horrible. Imagine if that was Dier or Sanchez.

Well, I wanted to comment in the Dele thread, but it looks like that's been locked due to old white men not liking dreadlocks or something.

Anyway, I've been impressed with Dele this pre-season. Dare I say it, but without H taking both the target man and the playmaker role, Dele has a lot more space to operate in. As such he's able to play to his raumdeuter strengths and be a real handful. With Son effectively playing as a false 9, it gave our attack a real dynamism.

This season could be big for Dele.

Arsenal usually win their pre-season tourneys via some rigged rules like goals scored being worth more than losing games.
Usually those things are sponsored by Emirates, with the other teams being sponsored by other groups. Which is why Arsenal usually win them.

Or am I thinking of the FA Cup?
