The scoreline is hiding the fact we've not been that bad. Apart from at set pieces which we really need to sort out.

Romero could have had 2. The VAR call was as tight as they come and Saka's goal was a clear penalty for Kulusevski.

Fine margins decide this game and they've all gone VARsenal's way. Shame as it could have been a good game.

I think two key things need to happen for next season;

We need to bring in a few players with guts, some actual bottle, I’m so tired of seeing the likes of Son sprint toward a player to close him down, and yet you know no matter what he isn’t going to put a proper foot in, he isn’t going to go up and challenge for a header… he’s just going to duck out of it. We lack guts, Maddison especially is just as bad.

And second, I think we should perhaps at least try and give the impression we practice a little bit of defending sometimes. It’s like watching a school team. Our defending especially from set pieces is fucking embarrassing. I also said before, teams have targeted Vicario since that Everton game, and yet we still don’t put someone in to help him out - it’s either moronic training, or just ignorant stupidity at this point.

Transition season and all, but Ange needs to adapt his system. Otherwise he won't last till December unfortunately. Bring back Vio too, pay the man whatever.
"Transitioning season"... What are we actually transitioning to? We've got worse and worse as the season has gone on.

We need to start attacking at pace with directness, as soon as we get 25 yards out you can see us running out of ideas. Then we let them get back and re organise as we struggle to move the ball into dangerous areas. And another thing I don't get from Ang is not wanting us to shoot from distance, don't buy a ticket, don't win the fucking lottery. Just have a fucking dig

I like the bloke and it's awful what happened to him but Ryan Mason is not good enough as a coach and is stealing a living at this point.

Son is not a striker. We need to have an actual prolific striker up front. Richy is hit and miss so I can’t say he’s the answer.
We’re playing 2 midfielders against their 3 and to make is worse, PEH is one of those 2. He’s a great player to come on in the closing stages of a game but not a starter for me.

I remembered football pundits grooving over Leverkusen, Ginora and us early season... We simply got found..

If Ange doesn't address teething issues early next season and learn from mistakes(I believe he earned a chance to address this), and I will be looking forward to another man to lead us.

Not only that, just look at the first goal, we just let white bully Vicario, When i played footbal, we would never alow that, white would be shuldered into the goad!

we are extremely weak at corners, Zonal marking lets players of the hook, noone needs to take responsibility, so Ange has a job to do here, unfortunately i think he is so stubborn and will get fired before he chages tat
BMJ lost his job because we couldn’t defend from corners

Barring one injury to Udogie, Ange has his best players to choose from week in week out. The team should be evolving, instead it’s regressing at a rate of knots due to his suicidal tactics.
I commented a couple weeks back that we hadn't progressed since the 9- man v Chelsea period and it was a concern. Many disagreed and seemed to think I was being unfair. Your observation here is the one I was making. We've been found out - teams give us possession wait for us to overcomplicate and not get shots off and pounce. Not sure what we can do from here. Let's give Ange another window before the pile on - but he has to be honest with himself and us and admit we need to change something tactically.

Fuck Maddison off and put Richarlison upfront, move Son to the left, Johnson right, Kulu behind them.
100% this
Maddison has been terrible
Kulusevski strong and a pest. But need Johnson against tomiyasu and son against white.
richarlison to cause problems

The reason we are struggling to make chances is because when arse lose the ball they get 9 players back very quickly. Just look how congested it is when we have the ball. There is no room for Maddison or anyone to work.

It doesn't help that Son is not a centre forward, he offers no physical presence whatsoever. If he doesn't have space to run into then he becomes very ineffective. We end up knocking it around in front of a massed defense, give it away, get countered. Rinse and repeat
It doesn't help that in transition we pass the ball sideways and backwards allowing the opposition to set up again

We weren't doing this early season

Expected goals: 0.85 - 0.70
Ball possession: 72% - 28%
Total shots: 8-4 (non on target for us though)
Big chances: 2-1
Yes. We're in an odd position of not being complete dreck yet finding ourselves in a deep hole in a game.

I mean it's obvious even to the likes of isy what the issues are. It can't have escaped those at the club either. Big summer coming up. Bigger than last summer.

They let us have the ball.
