Bentancur was one of the best in that half.

a substitution that makes no sense when Son and Maddison get to carry on.

does he know what he's doing?
Bentancur is still working into his fitness and we need legs out there.

When our centre back has had the most chances and is the only one interested in getting in the box then you know we have problems

I'd have made 3/4 subs at HT.

Bissouma for PEH. I didn't think PEH was a bad call and he hasn't done badly but not much use in his stability now.
Sarr for Maddison. Not sure GLC is cut out for this kind of game and Maddison looks blatantly injured.
Royal for Davies to help with the counters.

Possibly Richy for Son although we might wanna wait for 10/15.

Ground emptying out. Hope they’ve already spent some cash in the shop.

the football is like using deep heat as a lubricant for wanking.

I disagree mate we've not played well at all. We haven't played well for a long long time now.

I think if you ignore the set piece concessions and they only had Saka's goal, we'd be saying we played pretty well and didn't deserve to be losing. We can't defend set pieces so ofc we deserve it but in general play we're ahead in basically every statistical metric. Only goals matter obviously but if we want this to look different in 12 or 24 months (ie dominating the game in both statistics and score line) then we have to accept that we'll make some painful mistakes on the way there.

This isn't the kind of game that shakes my faith (Newcastle away did though).

Pumped 3-0 away against Fulham
Scrape past Luton Town at home 2-1
Scrap a 1-1 away against West Ham
Pumped 4-0 away against Newcastle
Pumped 3-0 (HT) at home to our arch rivals
Chelsea away next
Liverpool away after that

We have one captain and two deputies. All three have had big chances today and blown them. What kins of example is this?

Defo getting a bit fed of Ange now and his negligence to be tight defensively. To concede shit goals like we have is so frustrating. Taking bents off instead of Maddison is another predictable / terrible decision. How can he not see Maddison has been poor since Christmas but still plays him even with GLC fit and on the bench.
GLC and Bentacur looked great in those 35 mins vs Villa too.

Can only assume its cause he sees Maddison as his man and Lo Celso will leave so rather have Maddison play himself into form.

I commented a couple weeks back that we hadn't progressed since the 9- man v Chelsea period and it was a concern. Many disagreed and seemed to think I was being unfair. Your observation here is the one I was making. We've been found out - teams give us possession wait for us to overcomplicate and not get shots off and pounce. Not sure what we can do from here. Let's give Ange another window before the pile on - but he has to be honest with himself and us and admit we need to change something tactically.

I agree, we’ve been predominantly poor since the Chelsea debacle.

We need investment in the summer but Ange is out of his depth. We can forgive an up and down season but were incapable of doing the basics under Ange’s gun ho approach. Look at Arsenal, they play 4 centre backs and no striker yet they’re a fantastic team. Whereas we look absolutely clueless.

Ange’s coaching team - what the hell is that about. Takes the Spurs job then goes to a car boot sale, pays a £1, sticks his hand in the tombola and pulls out our current coaching staff.
