Hope I'm wrong but feel season is over after that.

Please start Sarr, Le Celso and Bissouma from now on. Tired of Hojbjerg, Bents and even madders ATM, they have been below par lately.

Also, we have conceded 7 in 2 games and the goals we got today were gifted, literally.

We have gone back to this time last year, terrible defending and blunt attempts at attack. God help us.

The painful rebuild rears its ugly head yet again.

If our keeper never comes off his line and doesn’t command his 6 yard box we’re in for more and more and more of this set piece nonsense and that doesn’t end well…

Thought the open play performance was good. Not great, but we were the better side in open play I thought. Set piece performance was absolutely diabolical, and where we lost the match.

Please please please Ange get a specialist in for next season. And vicario please please please develop some sort of presence at set pieces. He’s getting impeded, yes, but it doesn’t seem like he’s making much of an effort to free himself and I think he can be more forceful in creating space for himself.

Dogshit result but really good effort and arguably the better side. If we were competent on set pieces we'd be laughing at this lot.

I'll also add that the ref really fucked us around a lot as well. I'd love to see a proper look at both the Kulusevski pen shouts. We really don't do ourselves any favours though by repeated crossing into Raya and then on opposition corners failing to defend the goalkeeper.

Two fucking weeks we've had to prepare for this game and that's what we serve up. Wankers.
I don't think you can blame the team when we had a blatant pen not given and they scored off that situation. It would have ended up 3-2 if the officials did their job.

Arsenal are top of the league for a reason, they're not a shit team we're going to blow away. But we did deserve to win.

We didn’t create nearly enough in that game. The two goals we scored were gifts of sorts and even our disallowed goal was through sheer will rather than high quality attacking play.

That pen not given which led to their 2nd was the difference. Ange won’t call that out though and that annoys me. You don’t win in this league without putting the refs under pressure.
It was very much all huff until the final third then we either floated in duff crosses or went back. We need me incisiveness. At the start of the season madders did that, now he seems to want to just dive for a soft pen or free kick.

Exactly. Set piece coach needs sacking. Looked like we could concede from every corner.

Buoyed by that second half. More like it. We are where we all hoped to be at the beginning of the season and that second half performance gives me a lot of confidence.

Was hoping Maddison would not start this game, it changed when he came off. Outstanding player but is in a dip right now and would benefit from time on the bench.

Overall, shit result, but application and endeavour in the second half gives me reason to be confident that we will be strong next year with a couple of key additions.

The amount of our players in " abit of a dip" is really quite concerning.

Bissouma
Kulusevski
Maddison
Bentancur
Son etc

We didn't deserve to lose that
Unfortunately our defensive frailty and lack of edge suggests we probably did.

Maybe 3-0 at HT was harsh on the balance of play but we undid ourselves and took a mistake from their gk to get a lifeline and a pen to make it possible to nick a point.

So many defeats at home

I'd say we created enough. xG was 2.73 to 1.28.

We had 14 shots to their 9. What more do you expect against a good team. We're not going to destroy them but we were the better team imo.

I agree the game changer was the penalty not given for kulu. If we get that we win that game.
That 2.73 will include the penalty and Romero’s goal which will account for about half of the total and were gifts.

Aside from Romero’s header against the post (his previous one wouldn’t have counted) and one early in the 2nd half, I can’t remember any other chances for us. Lots of huffing and puffing only.

I love how the commentary is: “should have been a penalty, but then Saka did so well after that,” and then we move on.

THE SCORE WOULD HAVE BEEN 1-1, NOT 2-nil AT THAT POINT. And EVERYTHING would have been different.

The absolute arbitrariness of penalty decisions, when each one is SO momentous and changes THE ENTIRE MATCH is the cruelest thing about football, and it’s what VAR was designed to fix.

And it simply hasn’t.

The thing is, even with the xg we can't blame anyone but Ange and our coaching staff. If they knew how to organize defensive set pieces/a defence we would have won the game. But they can't. So we are not unlucky. Its a symptom of something else.
Yeah this is the tricky thing - it's not luck if it keeps happening. Sure, you theoretically can win a marathon wearing concrete shoes, but if no one else is wearing concrete shoes and there's no clear benefit or reason why you're wearing concrete shoes then surely it'd be much easier to win if you just stop wearing the fucking concrete shoes?!

If Maddison keeps starting then I’ll lose some faith with Ange. He’s been poor for months

I'm worried that all the unpunished physical abuse he took at the start of the season has got him hesitating, when was the last time you can remember him trying to carry the ball & break the lines? Or even have a pop from range?
