They are both 19 and inexperienced, no need to start laying into them for not getting picked to come on in a very important and competitive premier leage game.
Both only 18 actually (although Donley turns 19 in January). Plenty of time for them to develop and earn opportunities. ;)

How did he play?

I was watching on a dodgy stream and for the last 20 mins it kept going down. But I saw him play last week and thought he was excellent. I was surprised he didn't start. The same is true for Semenyo, who I thought was really good last time we played them and he didn't start today either. So maybe I'm just catching them on good days.

Another game, another win and still the same bemoaning of academy players not being given minutes? It's NYE let it go for once.

And, ironically, the one academy player we did have playing today was probably the player most moaned about in the thread.

Yep. Gio ran the show. We need to get that contract extended ASAP. I've always rated him and said pre season he would thrive in a pass and move team.

His composure on the ball is what was badly lacking against Brighton but I expect composure from him. Where he really impressed me today was with the energy off the ball.

Get that pen to paper.
He definitely appears to have bought into the manager's philosophy and system, but it's likely to take a period of regular playing time (not just a couple of games) to convince him to sign a new contract with us. I really hope he sticks around, because we'd struggle to recruit a backup for Maddison who isn't inferior. That he can also put in a solid shift as a deeper CM makes him a very useful squad player. I was also saying this back in the summer...

I missed the first 10 minutes of the game, so I didn’t get to hear the surprise — shock? — the commentators must’ve expressed at Bents being back. That came out of the blue. Thought he was crooked til end of next month…???
yep, missed the start too...thought I'd got a dodgy old stream ! Bolt out of the blue.

Not quite the stellar Bents of his 28 mins vs Villa yet, but absolutely thrilled to see him back.

Fair play to Gio. Wasn't on it first half. Really picked it up in the second

Thats probably more likely but I prefer the balacnce with my selection and I Like Gill's fight...he,'s growing on me.
He'd turn out a great footballer if he used his right foot a bit and put on some muscle I reckon. Has the attributes and attitude to do so.

All I'm seeing every week is a player not cut out in the slightest for the Premier league. Needs to leave whilst he's still young and can forge a decent career in a league more suited to him.

Superb battling result against a team who have been in great form and who played very well.

This injury curse really is an absolute bastard though.

If we weren't so desperate for a trophy I'd suggest putting the kids out against Burnley.
