Just back from the game. I really enjoyed that. Unlike the moaning fuckers who sit behind me who I doubt would even be happy if we won 10 nil. They must have such shit lives.

Sorry. Had to vent. They piss me off so much. I want to take my son to a game but I don’t want him to have to listen to it. Makes me annoyed.

Anyway. I thought we played well. Plus Conte got to try out the 352 for the last 15 minutes, which he will have been happy with although it looked like it needed work.
Well said. I hardly ever go to games now, but I found from the 90s onwards to 2010s when I was going fairly regularly, I was getting angry so often at the negativity from our fans
From the 60s to the 80s, when I went the most, home and away, I spent a lot of time having rows, at a safe distance mainly, with oppo fans. Often having to be quick on my feet and in my brain , as was never into hooliganism and violence
But sometime in the 90s and from then on in it was way more likely I would have a row with one of our supposedly own
And given they were often sat within punching distance it got a lot closer to violence then ?
Never happened fortunately, dont know if the change over the years was because I morphed from a star struck kid to a liberal hippy to a grumpy old git, or our fans became so much more unsupportive and too often a disgrace to the shirt
Probably a bit of both, and more besides
Anyway I feel your pain
It's definitely good for my blood pressure and probably what's left of my good looks that I keep away from the Lane ?

Skippy was uncharacteristically poor. Emerson was shittier though.

Yes, my jury is still very much out on Emerson but I'm prepared to let Tony get his teeth into him over time. Even if he's crap, he's a better option than Doherty!

Regarding Skippy, I think he's got enough credit in the bank to allow him the odd crap game, but hopefully, he'll sting his old team-mates on Sunday with the whizz of a performance we all know he can.

In the old stadium, we had people behind us who constantly moaned about Eriksen, we are talking about eriksen fro the 16/17 season!

Sometimes I don't get why people bother going.

South lower? Had some behind me loudly shouting that they hoped Sanchez was injured so he'd be taken off and that being down to 10 was an improvement. Mental that anyone thinks this is supporting.

I have posted about them before many times. Soon someone will lay a punch on them. They make the match thread seem sane!

They don’t even sing any songs as far as I can make out.

Don't get me wrong I don't think we're anywhere near the finished article but to summarise my enthusiasm-
1- you can see the system starting to bed in
2- in the race for top four after am awful half season
3- our two best players haven't hit form yet.

You are a glass-half full guy and I'm the other way around.
I agree with your points but..

re pt 1) even if the system beds in, with this lot, just can't see us playing better than Mourinho days
re pt 2) top 4 is in sight, but those around us are better in terms of overall squad quality: Man U, Arsenal, West Ham
re pt 3) yes but same applies to Man U, Arsenal and Leicester.

My thoughts were that it was a very comfortable win, but a poor game of football. I expected so much more from Brentford but they had no fight at all. We did what we needed to do but we weren’t good. I didn’t really think anyone was great for us. I just wish we’d push 10 yards further up the pitch and get in the opposition’s faces. 3 points won, and we’ll take it, but I find it interesting that he’s recycling the same team every week. Maybe it’s because our squad is so limited and he just doesn’t trust anyone else

Just got back, I enjoyed it. We won without getting out of second gear. Could have been more. Skipp, reggy impressed. My biggest problem with this system is Hjojberg..he really is a limited footballer. Missed 3 or so short passes. If we want to challenge top 4 a quality CM has to be the priority

I will admit that I only watched the highlights of this one as, living and working in Canada, the match was on during the work day; however, what stuck out for me in what I watched was this:

I remember games in the past (specifically against teams with Tim Krull in goal) where we would pepper the opposition goal with shots on target, the keeper would have a worldly, and we’d end up drawing or losing.

The initial highlights felt like that at the start with Brentford’s keeper making some really great stops (Lucas, Kane). I feel like in the past we would have drawn 0-0 or lost but we didn’t. Whether that is the Conte effect or not remains to be seen but I definitely felt positive at the end of the highlights.

I quite like him but he has a habit of roaring for someone to pass him the ball when he's either in a stupid position to receive it or gets it and gives it straight back. Love his attitude and workrate, not entirely sure about his (football) intelligence.

we are still very bad.... awful in possession and decision making not great....
PEH - starting to worry me - he only plays backwards and is always pointing that way - this trait ust stop IMO
Skipp - does ok but worry is he is limited - only become a regular because of the rest of midfield
when we brought winks on in addition it should have firmed things up but it did nothing - we were even worse trying to contain possession and see the game out...
Worrying winks gets on in front of TN and Dele
Still not seeing enough quality from HK an Son and Moura is a headless chicken....
not talked about defense - not because they were great to me they are not the problem - until we have a midfield that can play and are not scared of receiving ball under pressure and capable of playing forward i am not blaming them...
We need to drop one of skipp or Peh for GLC or TN to try and retain possession... failing that sacrifice LM for more control...

Obviously happy with result but an avg Brentford team pressed us and were fairly safe in control... as always we couldn't string passes together unless going backwards which then puts us under pressure..

One of Peh/skipp/ LM needs to be sacrificed but realistically think we need 2/3 new players in midfield during Jan who can start controlling games - 2 0f these need to be squad players going forward,. In addition we need one of the centre halves to join up further up the field and contribute to possession football - not sure if this can come from what we have or needs a new recruit.

We obviously then need another upfront - son/kane need some competition as both look extremely avg except for the odd moment...

Hoping conte/levy will address this in Jan...

Really? I thought peh was worse. Skipp at least spotted space and some passes. While peh did some good bit, the pass tokane (think about 60/70th min) where he could have passed it straightforward to kane on edge of box, with Brentford centre backs splitting to cover lucas / son looke a ludicrously obvious ballfrom where I'm sat. Though, to be fair we're in 528, so high up and central vs actually on the pitch! So dont want to sound overly crictical. Main pont is I think skipp actually had a decent game. Maybe 7 or 8 / 10
