was it bollocks.

The game was totally ruined and it wasnt about football after 30 mins or so.

It became chaos
Unfortunately Sky would rather now push the entertainment narrative over an actual sporting/tactical contest.

Great for your neutral/Youtuber/casual football 'fan' but certainly not one for purists.

That’s sort of what he did for his first. He was well ahead of Sterling when the ball was played, consequently he was ahead of our defence when the ball came across. Dier couldn’t get to him, no doubt VDV would have got him

Yea which made me think all someone needs to do in that situation is stand 25 yards from goal

I’m still trying to work out how Mudryk stayed on the pitch. He did three fouls with no yellow before he finally got booked for that challenge on vicario.
Mate… Sterling dives .. plural. I’m accepting of things given against us; but when that balance is skewed in the opposition’s favour I tend to lose heart. It was quite a bizarre game tbh; but Oliver needed to be more alert to Chelsea fouls

Been reflecting and overall i'm disappointed, they were there for the taking while we were composed. We were dancing around them. We slipped so quickly into madness that was a complete surprise because we have had worse testing moments so far this season. It felt out of character - so strange.

We are very early on in our development but it was worrying how we reverted to the bottling type without our experienced players being able to calm things and get back to the basics. Ange too in this regard. Work to be done and now we look to be without key players.

Like I said, disappointing and a bit embarrassing that we imploded with no real pressure.

I totally agree. He is absolutely horrendous for it. I had to tell my husband to turn it down last night as I can’t stick him. It feeds into peoples heads and that’s where half the drivel you read on social media comes from. Shocking commentary.
Wonder with so many other channels for football now - and as someone else intimated the money sky pay etc - it wouldn’t surprise me if Neville et al’s bosses have asked them to ‘ham it up’ a bit more. Neville’s a poor co-commentator

Last night was 20% commentator, 80% Neville opinion.
The commentator is actually quite a good listen, shame Sky let Neville run riot.
I don’t mind opinion, it’s the way he delivers it, very certain and actually quite inconsistent from game to game with it. Seems to be more about who the team is.

Still shaking my head at Colwill writhing on the ground for almost 7 fucking minutes pretending that Romero's light nudge broke his fucking leg.

Sure accentuate to try and draw the red card but that was so ridiculously over the top it surely counts as simulation. What an utter twat

Still feel totally deflated tbh. We played some great stuff in the first 20 mins and I honestly thought we were going to lay down a massive marker when it appeared Son had put us two up.

Those 9 players can walk off the pitch with their heads held high but to put ourselves in that position through stupidity and ill discipline has really fucked me off.

I wasn't able to watch the game so fully respect that others who did will have heightened and conflicting emotions, but I can't help but to feel incredibly proud that we're in a situation where we can lose 4-1 at home to Chelsea of all teams, and still have the crowd applaud the team at the end.

The players will appreciate that a lot, and it feels so much better than the voicing of frustration with boos of previous seasons due to the nature of the football.

All in all the thing that has to be remembered is that we're really moving in the right direction. Quicker than we imagined success would be lovely, but we're still very much on the right path which is the main thing.

Think Udogie is actually unfortunate.

What you have to take into account is he was last man and made a superb cover and block, his reaction then is to stop the chelsea player from being able to recover the ball, as he thinks he only has one player back helping him.

So, with the adrenaline and being conscious of this, he desperately lunges to shut it down. Unfortunately he does the player.

The problem was his first tackle. This is where he needed to be a bit smarter and not fly in, just back the man up so he can't turn, no panic in that moemnt, we were in control.

Experience will help him with these things.

Feel exactly the same as you; it was a gutsy performance with two sent off and two injuries. So much to be proud of as they clearly play in Ange’s image and also play for each other. However looking back quite infuriating with the discipline. With 11 we would’ve comfortably beat them.

A huge learning curve which in the short term will be quite painful (could see us drop form with those absentees). Hope I’m wrong.

A lot went against us last night and you just cannot make it up with it being against Chelsea.

It will be interesting to see if Ange does promote a few of the U21s to the first team especially as December’s fixtures are very congested.

I still think this is going to do us more good over the longer term even if it still feels like a gut-punch now. There are players who came on last night with points to prove and places to compete for and did so to great effect; the team and the fans forged a bond that is going to just get stronger; Udogie will have learnt a valuable lesson that will make him more effective; our talented youth products are going to find themselves on the bench exposed to match days in the PL, and hopefully get some minutes here and there; and the legend of Vicario is born.

The two main worries are how VDV comes back from that injury given his pace is a huge part of his game, and that Romero doesn't seem to be able to eradicate those games when he loses his head.

Definitely agree that we were on the verge of a proper statement win but for Son's eyebrow being offside.

Our spine is a major strength and it has just been ripped apart. We just have to hope we can ride out the next few games until we can get our players back. Hopefully, Maddison is not out for a long time. Vdv will be a major loss. That pace is so vital.

I think this sort of to dare is to do is not going to win many league trophies, sadly. Particularly when the likes of City are so pragmatic. Even against pool with 9 their low block was much harder to break down than our high line.

I don't personally care. I value the experience more than trophies, so I love that we go out to play and score. Others will no doubt disagree here though.

Our football in the first 20 was scintillating by the way and I thought we'd win by 3 or 4 when son scored the offside goal. Discipline and game management cost us today.
You contradict yourself where you say we won’t win trophies with this style of football and then say we would win by 3-4 but for discipline and game management

I would say if we can maintain discipline and build a proper squad there is no reason we shouldn’t win some things with this style of football (I don’t think to dare is to do involves losing your mind and making reckless challenges)

Sorry but I didn’t see us bottling anything last night, players playing on the edge and going over that edge yes, but bottling no.

I have seen Spurs sides bottle it games but that never happened last night. Spurs sides over the years have been easy on the eye and easily turned over at times, I think having a bit of aggression in this team is long overdue and in the long run will serve us well.

We just need to walk and stay the right side of the edge of that line when it comes to aggression.

Yeh, 'bottling it' is to be overcome by fear and freeze when the pressure is on. If anything we're the opposite, more like one of those free climbers 2000ft up a sheer rock face without any ropes daring gravity to get involved.

You don't play the offside trap on the half way line with 9 players on the pitch if you're worried about the consequences.
