When I say overcame the odds I meant with spurs fans. He was pretty much written off as a terrible buy until he turned it round last season and became a cult like figure where people loved him for his effort but would often laugh about his lack of quality.

I remember him being hyped up at Toulouse alongside ettiene capoue, I also remember the Newcastle fans having him.

Hes an OK player. As you say he would be welcome in most squads. Versatile, powerful and experienced, he's a managers dream.

He wasnt great last season. He was OK and a lot better than he had been previously. Still a huge downgrade on moussa dumbele.

His allowed to play as a right winger , his assist stats should be good. I wonder what his wasted crosses stats are? The right hand side is inbalanced as moura for me is a winger but due to having to play aurier high up the pitch he plays as an inside 10, thus negating his main strength- dribbling.

Would you say he deserves this status that mourinho has bestowed upon him as automatic starter? I know I wouldnt and thats my issue.

You say arsenal can't defend but I just watched them comfortably hold at bay an excellent wolves side. Arteta seems to be doing a lot of good work there, if we sit back and put in this sort of performance and don't get a result the post Sheffield United moaning will be a walk in the park compared to the reaction.

I agree. I have no issue with any being squad players but I do take issue with them becoming seemingly undroppable.
Ok, Assist stats are useful but can be very misleading. I agree that our players play too much inside. Though Poch always played his Ams inside, Lucas was basically a forward last season. I don't think he should be a starter, but can see why he starts.

He offers a counter attacking threat and puts in a shift. Can have really special moments as well. I would like to see him used more as an impact though. I agree about the imbalance. but, I also understand why he is trusted, and Jose demands pace on the flanks. I don't really see who should play instead of him and I don't see that much difference between him and Bergwijn who still needs to adjust to the league and prefers playing off the left.

It's really the energy and support he gives Aurier defensively which gets him there.

Arteta has done very well. But a few good results doesn't mean they are through the woods and they have got three clean sheets in a row. Wolves are not particularly high scorers but more a quick transition counter attacking team. If we keep them at bay we could win, if we concede early there might be problems. That's just the way he is going to play. I don't really agree with it, but it will be like that.

I don't think we really disagree, I don't think they should be undroppable, but I think they are there for a reason, not because of favouritism. Again, who else would you play?

separately - highly probable Kane is sold this summer to fund a rebuild....which Levy will fack up of course!
Why?

I mean, I think we will get one or two seasons more. I don't think anyone in the coaching team would want that to happen. On a separate point I don't think it would improve us. If we really can't find funds we will have to be clever. But getting rid of Kane would be incredibly risky, particularly in a deflated market.

Id like to see dele given that right wing forward slot. His best season under Poch came in that position when we played a 343 and he could ghost in off the wing, that would allow Aurier to continue to bomb on and provide the width.

In terms of the midfield I would absolutely start integrating N'dombele. He may not have the workrate of a sissoko but him and lo celso in midfield would enable us to keep the ball for more effectively.

I think we do agree though. Which is refreshing at 2am on the Internet!

Guess that is as good as it gets with a right side (Serge, Sissoko, Lucas) that could have been Naughton, Livermore and Townsend.

In addition of that some players who probably would like to press, some that like to stay deep and some who don't want to defend at all. But that is still better than the ideas for attack.

3 Points, so so proud
Comparing Serge , Moussa and Lucas to those there is bang on ! And some wonder why we not near top 4 .... the players sent top 4 level . No where near .

I would actually take those three (how they played at the time) over the current three (and how they are playing now). Naughton was a competent fullback when played on the right, it was when he had to play left back things went to shit for him. Livermore, limited but positionally sound. Townsend, has more to his game than Lucas going forward, but admittedly this is the one where both players are about on the same level and it would be a toss up between the two.

Apparently we have gotten more points since Mourinho started than Chelsea or Arsenal. Found that hard to believe at first...

I’m really not enjoying watching how we play at the moment. It’s boring, mostly predictable and everything else I feared it would be under Mourinho. We need a big personnel shake up and a change in style in my opinion and I’m already dreading next season as I can’t see anything massively changing...
Hopefully some players

I can't believe we lost again last night.

I'll get the '20 years of hurt' thread up and running.

I would never say Spurs winning is predictable and shame you don't enjoy the wins.

I still enjoy the wins but can’t say that last night was particularly inspiring! I think we were lucky that Everton didn’t appear particularly motivated for whatever reason. Like many, I guess I’m just mourning the energetic team which had an identity and was a joy to watch most of the time as it wasn’t that long ago. In comparison to what I’m seeing now, the decline over such a short period is scary.

I feel the next stage for Tottenham is a long term project but we have a short term coach.
At present, we do have a decent 11 to choose and can get results if we try a little harder. But, the situation needs to improve and changes have to be made for us to move forward. Some players will need to move on and that could include Kane. I feel losing the CL last season has created a cloud of insecurity. The Arsenal game will be telling. We need to finish above them
