He’s keeping up the grand tradition of Liverpool managers melting down at signs of adversity… Rafa’s been keeping the bench warm for him.

So this particular VAR mistake is unprecedented?

But why is this particular VAR mistake so much worse than every other VAR mistake where a goal has been wrongly disallowed, a penalty wrongly given or wrongly not given.

VAR fucked up - nobody else has ever suggested a replay, so being such a big baby and STFU
I think what Liverpool/Klopp believe to be "unprecedented" about this case is that it wasn't an incorrect decision made by VAR, but a breakdown in protocol that prevented the correct decision from being communicated to the on-field referee.

The thing is, if we were to request the audio files from PGMOL for every VAR involvement over the past few seasons, I'm reasonably certain that we'd find multiple similar examples where protocol has been breached leading to an incorrect decision on-field. Every club should have their lawyers primed to submit the request to PGMOL immediately if the PL show even a hint of entertaining the idea of a replay.

Can the premier League make us play a replay?

They probably can but it would be a nuclear move.

Klopp's calls for a replay should put paid to any suggestion that it wasn't something they really wanted or were asking for btw. There's been a lot of mitigating dialogue recently saying that wasn't their true aim but it's come directly from Klopp now that it is what they want.

Anyone remember the Adebayor goal that was given offside against I think Stoke/Sunderland/Southampton where he was literally about 3 metres onside ? Tried to find a video and couldn’t. Was the most ridiculous one I’ve ever seen

This is about the best I can find. So ridiculous

Lol, Jurgen says he wants a replay then TAA comes out with the first bit of sense for five days and says "We've got to put it behind us and move on". Off to the Gulag with you young Trent!

What makes this different to other bad offside calls is the fact that VAR got it wrong. It is a new level of incompetence as opposed to a split-second call from the sideline.

However it's still ultimately human error deciding a football match. If there was a replay I'd be fucking done.

This was the single worst ref performance I have ever seen in over 40 years supporting the club
I had forgotten about that game, but the anger and annoyance has all come flooding back. It was really that bad. Maybe Klopp should watch this tonight, he can then make an appeal on our behalf to get that game replayed as well. Chris Foy was one of the worst of a bad bunch.

Didn't Chris HOY get all the flak and abuse after because people got him mixed up with FOY?

What they got wrong though was not overturning the on pitch decision. Also the vast majority of calls are still split-second calls from the ref or sideline.

Again VAR will go wrong at some point, regardless of how good you think you've made it. When it does and what happens is that the on pitch call stands then it really shouldn't be that much of a big deal. If VAR goes wrong and overturns the correct on pitch decision then it becomes a more concerning thing IMO.

VAR did NOT get it wrong. The guys in the VAR room said it was onside. It was the communication that caused confusion which lead to it being kept as offside per the linesman's flag.

Klopp can't be so short-sighted as to think a replay is legitimately a fair outcome to this. This is a deliberate, Trump-esque comment in keeping with their insane statement from the day of the match. He's fanning the flames on purpose and playing to his "base" (far-right Republicans in the US, far-gone Liverpool fans in the UK), and ensuring the conversation around the game doesn't die. It's Liverpool - the "everyone against us" mentality being maintained at all times is absolutely paramount.
