Being a fan since around 95/96 I find it incredible hard to believe we ever had the mentality as a club to win the trophies we did in the past. Doesn’t seem to matter what the circumstance, we always find a way to not quite get there.

It's down to resources and cash - simple as that.

This one hurts.

Unfortunately, as superb as Poch is, I don't think he's good enough to overcome our inherent disadvantage against the biggest clubs in the really big games.

I'm not sure what the answer is.

First step might be for him to pick our best team, Toby and Hugo.

Second tell them to stop playing so slowly and allowing teams to get back, set defensively and then try and thread the eye of a needle

Third, get some width to stretch teams, including new full backs

We're not about trophies, haven't been for decades.

Well, people like you say that today, and the time before that, and then the time before that, and the time before that.
It's not about us dropping the ball today, would be kneejerk reacion if it was only about today. I
t's the pattern of it happening everytime we get close and the pressure is on.
Agree. It’s about mentality and belief. It’s about focus and aggression. It’s about putting it all on the line. Something that we see our team often fail to do in these situations. It’s a systemic issue that will remain until we win something of significance. Poch and others can play down the importance of trophies... but the reality is that u need to win one to instill belief. Until u do, it’s always a nagging issue at the back of your mind.... doesn’t matter who u are as a player.

Can't believe Poch practically gave the tie away with his pre match comments. Does he not realise that our long history of failure would change if we managed to win something again.

Same old disappointing Tottenham, the club has absolutely no belief in itself to be able to achieve any success in any competition. This needs to change big time.

Its embarrassing to come out with what he did.

I’m done with investing so much time and emotion in this club. It is literally like asking to be let down every year without fail.

Poch is a loser, Kane is playing like Kaz Hirai thought he would, Dembele has a go faster stripe in his head now, referee gave them everything but what’s the point in even complaining - it’s the same every fucking time.

We’re Spurs fans. Our club is a fucking meme. We contrive to fail at every hurdle and I just can’t be bothered.

Don’t care about knee jerking, don’t care about football anymore. This was our best chance at a trophy in so long and we have to suffer through that display in abject wankism.

Fuck you, Spurs. Fuck you, anybody that reads this and thinks of a little pseudo-witty quip - trying to mask their own disheartenment by acting like it’s weird to be downbeat about it.

Sell them all, smash down the stadium, nuke Chick King. There’s no fucking point.

.....Probably.

In all seriousness, I think he needs to consider getting some players in who have been there and done it. I'd be happy to pass on a couple of youngsters in order to get a big game player.

This is as good as it gets with the team...we flatter to deceive...either we invest and evolve or we slip back to mid table mediocrity. I don't think anyone is truly surprised at this result but we need to use it as a wake up call.....or die.

In some regards, not sure I would put it down to that. Take today for instance, you could argue there was a lack of strength in the starting 11, if you were to look at the fullbacks (even though for his limited ability I thought Trippier played well) but in terms of depth itself I think it was mostly there. Today's match has really hit home that we don't yet have the mentality. Like said, United play dog shit but may have 3 trophies in 2 seasons.
Because they and their manager are winners we are perennial losers

Yeah, it’s definitely that, a curse. That’s the smart analysis. Clearly anyone blaming our mentality is an emotional prick.

The key word is "feel" obviously I don't actually think we're cursed, I didn't think I needed to qualify my post with my disbelief in witchcraft.

But we're not legends either, you physically can't pull off some of the results we have in the last few years and be legends, it's impossible

You can however lose football matches and it can fucking hurt when you do, as happened today.

Mourinho milked that last 15 minutes just like I said. How many Man U players faces will be black andblue tomorrow? All their faces should be fucked up the way they went down holding them. And our lack of urgency was just as bad.

Kane, Alli, Son just didn't do enough. Can't ask Eriksen to do it all against teams like this.

He had enough of the ball in key areas to create opportunities but those ahead of him either couldn't run, move, shoot or demonstrate any in game intelligence.

Seeing the replays again, Vorm really should’ve saved that second goal.

He should have gotten closer to the first. Striker 101... Head the ball back across goal.

He was wrong footed, twice. Both goals were in the middle of the goal, he should, have atleast been in a position to do better.

Even though I strongly disagreed with the people arguing that we were unlucky against Chelsea in this game last season, we did actually give it a good go in that game. That one was galling, this one was just sad. A limp, lifeless, shadow of a performance.

It feels different from that Chelsea game, but my diagnosis remains the same: losers’ mentality.
